🇨🇺 Music at the Intersection welcomes Cimafunk and our Latin community to the Grand Center Arts District. This Grammy-nominated Afro-Cuban rockstar made his name a celebration of the legacy of the “cimarrón” - Cuban slaves of African descent who escaped slavery. Cimafunk’s music blends classic Cuban rhythms with innovative blends of funk, afrobeats, and hip hop. Throughout the United States and Europe, he has gained fame as a dynamic showman, delivering electrifying live performances in the company of La Tribu, his nine-piece band from Havana. His stage presence is of amazing strength from funk. Their live performance is an act of liberation. Cimafunk redefines the Afro-Latin identity by connecting the mosaic of cultures of our America with the roots of Africa.
