👻 SCARY TECH HISTORY: ILOVEYOU
In May 2000, the ILOVEYOU worm spread through email attachments and reached tens of millions of computers.
The trick wasn’t complicated: the message looked interesting enough that people opened it.
More than 25 years later, attackers are still counting on the same thing:

👻 SCARY TECH HISTORY: Y2K
Remember the concern over January 1, 2000?
Many older systems stored years using only two digits, creating the risk that “00” could be interpreted incorrectly.
Businesses and government agencies spent years identifying and correcting those systems before the deadline.
The lesson still works today:
Old technology problems are easier to deal with before they become urgent.
