SHE’S A ZAG!!!

And we could not be happier for her! Everything about this school fits her so well. She had the best time yesterday, found her roommate, made new friends and powered through our crazy travel schedule to make the most of every minute she had there.

We are so proud of Maya - not only for all of her hard work on applications and scholarships but also for the way she has thoughtfully taken her time to make the best decision possible!

A really special thank you to for going there first 🤣, going above and beyond in supporting Maya through this and being an amazing mentor and friend.

And to .tori and ALL of you who have shared your experiences and sung the praises of Gonzaga to us and to Maya!

Go Zags!

Next stitched symbol: the circle.

The womb, Mother Earth, equality, gathering, life cycles, lunar cycles, resistance - the circle has been associated with women since prehistoric times. In fact, the rise of patriarchy and its linear nature FOLLOWED that of egalitarian societies 🤯

Because of its reliance on competition, individualization, and a clear hierarchy (e.g., boss over employee, husband over wife), the patriarchy is associated with linearity. In contrast, the feminist circle challenges the need for hierarchy and emphasizes communal care and collaboration.

This 100 Day Project is so different! I work on it for 30 min each day instead of completing something daily. It’s been a bit of a challenge to feel like this is ā€œenoughā€ because I have always done more in the past. But I did tell my teenage daughter today that comparison gets you nowhere.

Comparison gets me nowhere either, so I am becoming ok with loving my 30 min/day and spending way less time posting about it!

Life motto right here ^^^^

Whether it’s art, exercise, relationships, career, faith, gender equality…it’s the little steps that bring the change. As I stitch in the car in the orthodontist parking lot, I am reminded that this is one of the millions of things I love about The 100 Day Project!

This next symbol isn’t a wedding dress, but close!

Did we know the lotus is so much more than a yoga symbol? 😮

I’ve been working on this one the past 2 days and thinking about the incredible nature of the lotus flower. It plants its roots in the mud, then grows in murky water and blooms into a striking, open, bright flower. 🤯

No wonder it is a symbol of feminine power!

Linked to goddesses like Lakshmi or Saraswati, the lotus represents divine feminine energy in many Eastern cultures. It is associated with resilience and strength, and rising above the ā€œmudā€ as the lotus flower itself does naturally.

In Iranian mythology, it is a symbol of feminine existence, fertility and wisdom.

Yet somehow, Iranian women today live in a country that counts their word as half of that of a male’s in court, legally allows them to marry at age 13, requires that females have her husband’s permission to obtain a passport, prohibits them from singing or dancing in public, and makes it nearly impossible for them to divorce.
(All of these examples are from an article in MSNOW published on 2.19.26)

May the lotus symbol be inspiration to continue to rise above, bloom anyways and know their wisdom matters.

And may we help lift them out of the mud.

Dear Austin,
I never really knew why, but I always wanted to visit you. I heard you were a lot like Boulder (well, the old Boulder!) and had good food. I’m not that into Magnolia (although it was so cute and perfect for this trip!), not a country music fan and I look silly in cowgirl boots, but you still called. I am so happy I answered and chose you for my 50th bday trip with my mom and sisters! What a great, artsy, foodie, trendy, petty city! We had the best time doing all the fun things! (IYKYK!!!) was a highlight, especially because my amazing mom did an entire Vinyasa class without ever having tried yoga before. We visited my mom and dad’s street and first home, where dad was stationed upon returning from Vietnam. (And thankful we didn’t get shot as my mom traipsed through people’s yards in rural Texas 😳). We loved seeing the troll and watching the bats. We tried to ride in a Waymo, almost lost our rental car and sweated off all of our yummy food because it was HOT! Austin, you were so good to us! Stay weird and take care of the piece of my heart that I left there! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

And, ā€œtimes and places are in who you share ā€˜em with.ā€ I couldn’t dream of more perfect sisters or a better mom to adventure with!ā€ šŸŽµ

Thank you and ! I love YOU so much!
