Some brands are designed around aesthetics.
Others are designed around experience.

For Wild Rose Retreat, we wanted the branding to capture the feeling of staying there before someone ever arrived.

Lorna shared photos of the cabin, the rustic interior spaces, and a scenic outbuilding studio surrounded by tall trees—spaces intentionally created for artists, creatives, and quiet inspiration.

She also wanted to incorporate a family compass that has carried meaning for years, making the brand feel even more personal and rooted in story.

From the hand-drawn illustration style to the rustic textures and cabin-inspired feel, every part of the logo was designed to reflect the experience guests will have while staying there.

Warm. Artistic. Intentional. Grounded.

After a few thoughtful refinements, her response was:

“YES! I think this is it.”

And honestly, that’s what good branding should do.

It should feel aligned with the story being told.

Branding isn’t just about the things customers immediately notice.

It’s also the smaller touchpoints that create consistency, professionalism, and recognition over time.

For The Hands of Time, we designed and printed both branded yard signs and plastic water shut off tags - creating pieces that not only serve a purpose, but also reinforce the brand in the field.

The yard signs help increase visibility while crews are actively working.

The shut off tags create a more polished, professional experience during service calls - turning something functional into another intentional brand touchpoint.

Because strong branding isn’t built through one big moment.

It’s built through consistency in the details.

🌟 BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT: NOLAN MULLEN | PAYCOMPASS 🌟

This week’s spotlight is Nolan Mullen, a payment solutions specialist with PayCompass, helping business owners streamline how they accept and manage payments. From reducing processing costs and improving invoicing systems to integrating POS platforms and QuickBooks, Nolan focuses on building efficient, customized financial systems that help businesses operate more smoothly and profitably.

Why it matters: Many business owners are overpaying on processing fees or using systems that don’t fully fit how they operate. Nolan takes a deeper approach—looking beyond rates to evaluate workflow, cash flow, and structure. The goal isn’t just to save money, but to create systems that give owners clarity, control, and time back to focus on growth instead of admin work.

My perspective: I love his relationship-first approach. Instead of treating payment processing as a transaction, he builds long-term partnerships rooted in trust, education, and real business understanding. That shift - from provider to partner - is what creates lasting value.

💡 Tip for your business: Know your effective processing rate. Take your total monthly processing fees and divide them by your total card volume - this gives you the real percentage you’re paying (and often reveals hidden costs you didn’t realize were there).

💬 Engagement Question:
Do you currently know what your business is actually paying in processing fees each month?

Sometimes permanent branding isn’t the best fit.

That’s where vehicle magnets make sense.

Adam with O’Shaughnessy Painting needed something temporary while preparing for a future vehicle wrap—so magnets were the perfect in-between solution to keep his trucks branded and visible in the meantime.

Jamie with Allpro Renovation & Remodeling needed branding for a work trailer that’s occasionally shared with other businesses. Magnets gave him the flexibility to brand it when needed and remove them when it’s not.

This is why there’s no one-size-fits-all answer when it comes to vehicle branding.

The best option depends on:
✔ how the vehicle is used
✔ whether the branding needs to be temporary or permanent
✔ how often the vehicle is seen
✔ and the overall goal behind it

Magnets may be temporary—
but visibility still matters.

Because whether it’s a full wrap, decals, or magnets…
if your vehicle is out in the community, it should be working for your brand too.

One of the most common questions when branding a vehicle:

“Should I use magnets or decals?”

The answer depends on how you use your vehicle.

Magnets are great for flexibility—especially if your vehicle is used for both personal and business.

Decals are built for consistency—giving your business a more professional, established look with daily visibility.

And for those looking for full coverage and maximum impact, vehicle wraps are another option entirely. While we don’t offer wraps, we do have trusted referrals we’re happy to connect you with.

There isn’t a one-size-fits-all answer.

The best choice is the one that aligns with how your business actually operates—and how you want to be perceived when you’re out in the community.

That’s where we help guide the decision.

Memorial Day carries weight far beyond a long weekend.

It’s a reminder that freedom came at a cost—paid for by men and women who gave everything for something bigger than themselves.

Their sacrifice built the foundation that allows businesses to exist, communities to grow, and families to build a life together.

Today, we remember those who never made it home.
We honor their courage, their sacrifice, and the legacy they left behind.

And in a world that moves fast, may we never become casual about the freedoms we’ve been given.

From our family at Barry Fresh Designs—thank you to those who served, sacrificed, and are remembered today.

As the weather warms up, what your team wears—and uses—starts to matter more than you think.

For crews, sales teams, and businesses that are out in the field, this isn’t just about comfort.
It’s about visibility, consistency, and how your business is perceived.

Caps.
T-shirts, polos and tanks.
Drinkware that actually gets used daily.

These aren’t just items—they’re everyday brand touchpoints.

The businesses that stand out this season aren’t scrambling last minute.

They’re intentional about what their team wears, what they hand out, and what stays in front of their customers.

Whether it’s for your crew, client gifts, promotional swag, or your own office—
the right pieces don’t just look good… they get seen.

And that’s where the impact happens.

Show up consistently—everywhere.

This is the second time I’ve had the opportunity to create custom tumblers for this vision program—and this one meant just as much as the first.

Each design was created with intention:

• The student’s name in braille
• A graphic representing something meaningful to them
• Their last name, tying it all together

This year, they chose matching red water bottles—creating a consistent look while still keeping each one personal.

After they were picked up, Lonna said,
“I love them!”

And that’s always the goal.

Not just to make something that looks good—
but something that feels thoughtful, intentional, and made specifically for the person receiving it.

These are the kinds of projects that remind me…
the details matter.

When Pacific Judo Academy came to us, the goal was bigger than just ordering apparel.

They needed a streamlined way for their members to get branded team gear before an upcoming competition—something that felt organized, professional, and easy for both youth and adult members.

We helped them select the right apparel based on their needs, balancing options for both adults and youth while making sure the final pieces felt cohesive and competition-ready.

Their team store included screen printed shirts, hoodies, and zip-ups, giving members flexible options to choose from.

We also created embroidered coach polos, embroidered caps, and a beanie to complete the professional look for coaches and leadership.

From mockups to the full team store setup, the goal was simple: make ordering easy, create consistency across the team, and help everyone show up with confidence.

The result wasn’t just branded apparel—it was a system that made the process smoother and the team stronger.

Because showing up as a team starts long before competition day.

Some things are completely normal in graphic design…
but would be wildly unacceptable anywhere else. 😂

Spending 4 hours adjusting spacing?
Normal.

Judging a business based solely on their kerning?
Also normal.

Having trust issues because someone sent you a logo in a Word document?
Character development.

Designers live in a world where fonts have personalities, colors have emotional baggage, and “just make it pop” is somehow considered useful feedback.

It’s chaos.
It’s caffeine.
It’s creative therapy.

And honestly… we love it here.
