Update: Lookout Mountain Site

We have some good progress to report from the Lookout Mountain site.

The main tower has been restored to utility power, and almost all of our equipment has come back online. As a result, most customers in the area should now have service restored.

Customers in the vicinity of Woolard Rd, Monroe Rd, and Austin Rd will continue to experience slower speeds until tomorrow morning. To fully restore service, we need to climb the tower and replace cabling and radio equipment that sustained partial fire damage.

Although the tower is accessible, we made the decision not to send climbers onto the superstructure today. The area remains under a Level 3 evacuation, and we did not want to risk having our crew stranded on the tower if fire conditions changed and threatened the area again.

We anticipate the evacuation level will be reduced by tomorrow morning, at which point our crew is scheduled to complete the climb and finish the remaining repairs.

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding as we work to safely restore full service.

Update: Lookout Mountain Site

Unfortunately, we were unable to safely complete the work to bring the Lookout Mountain site back online today.

There are active large fires just south of the tower location, and some areas that had previously burned have started reigniting. Because of the changing fire conditions, we've made the decision not to send our technicians back into the area today.

The safety of our crew comes first. If conditions improve, we hope to resume work and complete the restoration tomorrow. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Technicians have safely reached Lookout Mountain and are actively working to restore service for customers in the Mead, Deer Park, and Suncrest/Nine Mile areas.

For the safety of first responders and crews, commercial power remains shut off, and the site's generator gas supply has also been temporarily suspended. We are operating on a mobile generator and expect to remain on temporary power for the next few days while firefighters continue their incredible work battling these historic fires.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to safely restore and maintain service. Most importantly, our thoughts are with everyone affected by these fires, and we are deeply grateful to the firefighters and emergency personnel risking so much to protect our communities.
