Back in the day, there was a company called Stealth Claims Mining Company. At that time, two of their employees were like two peas in a pod. Their names were Miner 1 and Miner 2. They worked in a dark and dreary office that was near an alley. Right across the alley was a coffee shop called Cento.
M1 really liked lattes, and he especially liked lattes from Cento. He knew that M2 liked baked goods such as brownies and banana bread. M1 would get lattes from Cento, and he liked it when M2 would tag along to get some baked goods. So every day, M1 would go over to M2’s desk and say, “Baked goods?”
M1 would say “baked goods” rather than “latte” to intrigue M2. He wanted M2’s company. He knew that mention of baked goods would provide the proper motivation.
But the thing about Cento is that their baked goods aren't that great. And they aren't always available. So M2 kind of soured on the trip to Cento over time. He soured on the trip to Cento to the point that he wasn't super enthusiastic about joining M1 anymore.
One morning M1 and M2 are in a board meeting, and the board is deciding whether to pursue an exciting business opportunity. SCM board member ChM**el2 says, “We don't have to just take every opportunity that comes along, we're the cute girl at the dance. We choose what we want!”
After the meeting, M1 really wants a latte. So he walks over to M2’s desk and says, “Hey M2, want to go to Cento for baked goods?”
And M2 looks at M1 and says, “Well, M1. I'm kinda like the cute girl at the baked goods dance, and I want to go to Starbucks today.”
M1 laughed hard. In fact, M1 laughed so hard that a tradition was born. Lattes and baked goods lived happily ever after.
