Last week, I had the opportunity to speak with the Management class and FBLA students at Lyme–Old Lyme High School about starting a business and what it’s really like to work for yourself.
We talked about the path from high school into the working world, including some not-so-glamorous early jobs, eventually moving into management positions, and how that experience led me to start Lyme PC Repair. I tried to give them a realistic picture of business ownership, not the social media version.
We also talked about how to find and keep clients, what the day-to-day work is actually like, and what responsibilities come with running a business beyond just the technical work.
There were a lot of great questions, and it was a really good group of students.
I’m always glad to be invited to talk about business, technology, and entrepreneurship, especially here in our local community.
Thanks again to Lyme–Old Lyme High School and FBLA for having me.
