There are countless books and articles on the subject, but I think there are three qualities that stand out:

As we approach the end of 2022, it's time to start thinking about the cyber threats we may face in the coming year.

Here are a few things to watch out for in 2023:

Phishing attacks will become more sophisticated. Cybercriminals will continue to use phishing as a way to steal information and money from businesses. Be sure to educate your employees about the dangers of phishing emails and how to spot them.

Ransomware will continue to be a threat. Ransomware attacks are becoming more common, and they're only going to get worse. Ensure you have a robust backup and recovery plan in place in case you're hit with a ransomware attack.

Supply chain attacks will increase. We've seen a few high-profile supply chain attacks in the past year, and we expect to see more in 2023. Make sure your vendor management process includes security vetting to help prevent these attacks.

I believe that planning to proactively have mitigating controls for these threats in 2023 is crucial for business leaders and technology executives as the threat landscape continues to widen and traditional borders are broken down with cloud applications.
