Local Search Ally

Local Search Ally Local SEO & Google Maps Strategy for home service contractors. Serving Northwest Arkansas and beyond. I started Local Search Ally to fix that. No vague promises.

I'm Chad Smith, a local SEO specialist based in Siloam Springs, AR. If you're a contractor in Northwest Arkansas — HVAC, plumbing, roofing, electrical, landscaping — and you're not showing up when locals search for your trade, you're losing jobs you don't even know about. I help NWA contractors rank on Google, clean up their Google Business Profile, and build websites that actually generate calls. I'm not a big agency. I'm a startup founder who proved this method on my own sites before offering it to anyone else. No long-term contracts. Just honest work and clear results. If you want to know where you stand online, let's talk — it's free.

Google replaced your Q&A section with AI—and there is no "Edit" button. 🛑

Imagine a potential customer asks Google Maps if you offer emergency 24/7 service. The AI confidently answers "No" (even though you do).

You can't just log into your dashboard and click a button to change its mind.

With Google's rollout of Gemini-powered "Ask Maps," I’m seeing more and more local businesses lose out on jobs because of "hallucinated" wrong answers.

The reality is that 62% of consumers will completely avoid a business if they find incorrect information online. When the AI gets your hours, services, or pricing wrong, it’s a lost contract before the phone even has a chance to ring.

The good news? While you can’t edit the AI’s answers directly, you can retrain it by fixing the specific "Sources of Truth" it actually trusts.

I’ve put together a step-by-step guide on how to audit your online data and force Google to get your facts straight.

I’ve dropped the link to the full breakdown in the first comment below! 👇

A contractor I talked to recently had 67 Google reviews. All five stars. 4.9 rating. He was still losing jobs to a competitor with 31 reviews and a 4.7.

The difference wasn't the stars — it was the words.

His reviews said "great work, very professional." The competitor's said things like "replaced the main shutoff valve same day" and "fixed our water heater before the home inspector showed up."

Google's AI reads review text to match businesses to searches. Specific language wins. Generic praise doesn't give it much to work with.

Nobody told him the rules had changed. If your reviews sound more like the first example than the second, this breakdown is worth five minutes:

Most NWA contractors have decent Google reviews. The problem is, 'great service!' doesn't get you calls anymore. Here's what AI is actually reading — and how to fix it.

Quick heads up for NWA contractors:

Apple is launching a new platform called "Apple Business" on Tuesday (April 14). It controls how your business shows up on Apple Maps, Siri, and Safari.

If you've never claimed your business on Apple Maps — now's the time. About half the phones in the U.S. are iPhones, and when those customers search for local services, they're looking at your Apple listing, not your Google one.

The good news: if your Google Business Profile is already in good shape, most of the work is done. You just need to get that same info into Apple's system.

I put together a walkthrough covering what changed, why it matters, and the three things to do this week:

Takes about 30 minutes to set up. It's free. And right now, almost none of your competitors have done it.

If you run an HVAC, plumbing, roofing, or electrical business in NWA — this is for you.

I've been auditing local contractor profiles across Rogers, Bentonville, Fayetteville, and Springdale. The same three problems keep showing up. Not complicated problems. Fixable ones. But they're quietly costing people jobs every single week.

I wrote it all up in a free guide called The Invisibility Report. It covers:

→ How to check if your Google Business Profile is hurting your ranking
→ What NAP inconsistencies are and why they get you buried
→ How to tell if Google can actually read your website

Three pages. Straight to the point. No fluff, no email gate.

If you know an NWA contractor who's been wondering why competitors show up and they don't — share this with them.

The best business in NWA shouldn’t be the hardest to find. 📍

16.4 BILLION searches happen on Google every day.

That number feels too big to matter for a local contractor or small shop here in Siloam Springs or Bentonville... until you look at the local data:

📊 46% of those searches are looking for someone LOCAL.
📞 80% of those local searches result in a phone call or visit within 24 hours.

If you haven't claimed your Google Business Profile, you are effectively invisible to the customers searching for you right now.

You don't need to capture the world. You just need to show up when your neighbors are looking for help.

The Move: Claim your profile. It’s free, it’s powerful, and it’s the first step to owning your local map pack.

A plumber in Springdale paid $3,000 for a new website two years ago. It looked good.

When I asked how many calls he'd gotten from it, he thought for a second and said, "Maybe two?"

That's not a traffic problem. That's a conversion problem.

Most contractor websites are built to impress — not to get someone to pick up the phone. Here are the 5 things that actually make the difference:

1. Phone number impossible to miss — tap-to-call on mobile
2. Reviews visible before the scroll, not buried below it
3. Specific cities named, not just "Serving NWA"
4. Page loads in under 3 seconds on a phone
5. One clear next step, not five competing options

Pull up your site on your phone right now. Pretend you're a homeowner who just found it. Would you call?

If the answer is "probably not," that's useful information — and fixable.

If you're a contractor in NWA, this page is for you.

Every day, homeowners in Rogers, Bentonville, Fayetteville, and Springdale search Google for someone who does exactly what you do.

A lot of them never find you.

Not because your work isn't good, but because the contractor who shows up first in Google just happens to have a better online presence.

Better Google Business Profile.
Better local SEO. Sometimes a better website.
That's it.

Local Search Ally exists to close that gap.

Here's what you can expect from this page:

→ Honest breakdowns of how local search works
→ Real talk about what actually moves the needle for contractors
→ No jargon. No fluff. No "just trust the process."

You're the best at what you do. So why is your phone quieter than it should be?

If you're a contractor in Northwest Arkansas, there's a good chance a less-skilled competitor is beating you — not because of their work, but because they're showing up on Google first.

That's exactly what our first blog post breaks down. No fluff. Just a straight look at what's actually happening and what you can do about it.
