The News-Review

The News-Review Welcome friends! Please feel free to share your story with us.

It is with deep regret that we share this news with our readers and community. Many of you may have heard rumors, and we apologize for not being able to share information sooner.

On March 19, Mid-America Publishing, the company that owns The News-Review and many other newspapers, made the difficult decision to cease operations effective April 2.

This news came as a shock to our staff as well. The company had been working to find a buyer for its newspapers, and while there were discussions and possibilities, those efforts ultimately did not come to fruition for our area.

We understand how important The News-Review has been to this community. For generations, it has served as a place to share local news, celebrate milestones, and keep residents informed. That role is something we have taken great pride in, and we know this transition will be felt across Keokuk County.

However, we are grateful to share that The News-Review will continue in a modified format. The Iowa Newspaper Association will coordinate the printing of public notices (legals), and the publication will possibly include content from the Iowa Capital Dispatch.

All current subscribers will continue to receive this version of the paper. The masthead and overall style of The News-Review will remain the same.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to the many advertisers who have supported The News-Review over the years. Your support has helped make local journalism possible, and we are truly grateful for the relationships we have built.

More information will be shared in the coming days regarding subscriptions and next steps. City and county officials who publish legal notices will be notified separately to ensure continuity of required publications.

This is a difficult and emotional moment for all of us. It has been an honor to serve this community, and we are incredibly thankful for the support you have shown over the years.

Thank you,

The News-Review Staff
