As people start their travels this year, beware of hidden cameras in rooms. There are devices you can purchase on Amazon that will help you find them. If anyone wants advice, comment here and I will be post two different devices that may help. A great app for your phone to detect local networks is Fling. It will assist you detect what network is active and what devices are connected to the network. If cameras are connected, Fling will alert you.

I get text messages on my phone all day long that are spam. Sometimes they want you to opt out by pressing a number or going to a website.

DON’T DO IT!!! The only thing you need to do is type in: STOP then send the text
Next, delete the text by swiping it (at least on the iPhone) to the left, then Delete as spam

iPhone and iPad are at High risk

PROBLEM
Hackers have found a way into Apple devices (iPhones and iPads). They can get all your contacts and take control of your device.

ACTION TO TAKE
You MUST update your device to 26.2 to fix this issue.

To update the software following these instructions:

1. Open settings
2. Tap “General”
3. Tap “Update Software”
4. Download and install the 26.2 update.

Please note: while you may have your device on auto updates, it may not update. My iPhone did not automatically update. I had to update it manually.

ADDITIONAL ACTION
Also, I use Mobile Security from Bitdefender. I run it at least once per week. It checks your OS for iPhones and IOS for iPads. You can get a free version. However, If you purchase Bitdefender for your computer, you get five devices, which includes Mobile Security for your phones.

Last, I am not fond of the new look and feel. Although I talked to some people that love it. Some new features need your attention. For example: if a call comes in and the caller is not in your contacts list the caller is considered spam. This feature is not a good feature for my business. So, you have to go into Settings >> apps >> phone, and scroll down to the new settings, read what they do and make a decision how you want your phone to respond to incoming calls. I tried one, then realized it caused new customers and valid incoming calls, (e.g., doctors who use other extensions than the main extension) not to get through the first time. Whereby, not leaving messages and me missing calls.

IN CONCLUSION
You MUST UPDATE to 26.2 in order to be safe. You may or may not like the new update. I would recommend getting virus protection on all your devices (computers, laptops, iPhones, iPads). I even have virus protection on my router. I had someone try to hack into my router yesterday (1/19/2026)

There is an uptake in Social Security scams. Social Security will never just send you an email. They always send you a letter by US Mail.

It you use a great virus protection like Bitdefender Total Protection, most likely this will go to spam.

IMPORTANT: No mater what NEVER click a link on an email.

Even if it is your bank. Go to the browser you use, and use your bookmarks. Do the research through your your trusted bookmarks or through calling directly to who you may think there is an issue with.

*** WARNING *** KASPERSKEY UPDATE

If you have Kaspersky, it is not just a flip of a switch or installing another virus protection to turn off the autopay. It is a process.
First, you need to determine who billed you. There are four different companies as follows:
1) Allsoft
2) Nexway
3) Digital River
4) 2Checkout

What makes it more difficult? Each of the above companies has a lot of companies that may appear on your credit card statement that role up to one of the four companies. So, what do you do? Note: it may not be easy.

1) Find the company on your credit card statement that billed you for Kaspersky.
2) Then, log into “My Kaspersky” on the internet. You will need your email associated with Kaspersky and your password.
3) Next, find the search icon, and click on it.
4) In the search box, enter “cancel” and press enter.
5) You will get search results. Find something like “How to cancel Autopay” and click on it.
6) From there, scroll down the webpage and search for the company on your credit card bill.
7) Then determine the main company.
8) There will be a guide for the main company on how to cancel Autopay back at the top of the webpage. Click on that link.
9) Follow the instructions.
10) Note: I worked with some of my customers with Digital River and when we tried to cancel the autopay online, the entry form would not accept their email. We ended up researching Digital River’s phone number [ (781) 503-7887 ] and calling them. We were on hold for 45 minutes, and we could barely understand the people that were on the phone, However, they finally canceled the autopay.

On July 20th, the Commerce Department announced a ban on the sales of Kaspersky software in the U.S. The government argued the company's Russian connections pose an “undue or unacceptable risk to U.S. national security or the safety and security.”

Therefore, if you are using Kaspersky for your virus protection you should consider doing the following:

1) Immediately turn off your autopay
2) Determine how much time you have left for your virus protection
If you want to try to get some money back, contact Kaspersky
3) I would recommend installing Bitdefender Total Security and VPN

Use the internet to install. If you need assistance, please call me for an appointment. (Note: when you install Bitdefender, it will ask you to uninstall any other virus protection, like Kaspersky, that you have on your device.
