In practice, physicians learn documentation habits in the new EHR without Dragon Copilot, then change those habits again when Dragon Copilot arrives. The second change meets more resistance. Adoption timelines extend. Physician frustration compounds across two disruptions instead of one. Parallel deployment removes both disruptions from the equation. Physicians learn one documentation workflow. Your IT team runs one change-control cycle. Post-go-live support for both systems runs on the same schedule. If your EHR go-live is within six months, the conversation about parallel deployment needs to happen now.

Before you approve a Dragon Copilot go-live date, run four questions. EHR integration readiness: Is your EHR out of freeze and do you have a named integration owner? Security review status: Has your CISO reviewed and approved the architecture, BAA, and PHI workflows? Internal IT capacity: Do you have confirmed bandwidth for 90 days without displacing a priority project? Support model: Have SST SLA terms, escalation paths, and Tier 2/3 handoff been accepted? A score of zero on EHR integration readiness or security review is a blocking condition. Do not set a date until both clear. Scores of 10 to 12 mean your team is ready. Scores of 7 to 9 need two to four weeks of preparation. Below 7 means you need a remediation plan before any timeline is committed.
