OK, update time. SMU is building a new SMU office building. All surrounding lots were already owned by the City, I was in the way. The building is now owned by the City, and RadioShack has to move, no other options really, since the City is going to push over my store. Even if I decided some cosmic force was telling me to retire and I wanted to sell everything, I don't have enough time to do so. Yes the City paid for the building. The three commercial buildings for sale in Shawano that I will fit in / similar square footage, are priced near or above the 300K mark. We did not get anywhere near that amount, and at this stage in life I am not willing to go take out a new mortgage for the difference. There is a Rama owned property that would have worked and been an easy move, initially in the right price range. I was aware I would have to replace all mechanical / electrical. However, even though it is for sale and available, you can't actually purchase it.
My new (hopefully temp) location is not being advertised because it is six sizes to small, the only way everything will fit will involve putting my wall fixtures back to back warehouse style about two feet apart. I will be phone and online orders only, no open browsing. At least covid taught me I could still pay the bills operating phone/ online only. The part that is starting to overwhelm me is unpacking- not knowing how long it will be that I can't find product someone wants and I know I have.
Trying to prep the new space is going much slower than anticipated. I have been open afternoons with everything on sale, but need to focus on the prep work in the new space before I run out of time. The store will be closed until Sept. 2. Hopefully I will be able to reopen for another two or three days in September before closing for boxing and fixture removal.
