We successfully fix this iPhone 17 Pro today. This is the before picture. Not a fan of the racing stripe look and this customer did not have AppleCare so this was a pretty costly repair. Don’t get tricked into buying the carrier insurance through Asurion. You really want AppleCare +! And a fun insider tip is that due to some changes at Apple you can buy a two-year plan of AppleCare+ from MacMedics at a pretty substantial discount. Apple only sells it as monthly and only with the loss now it’s either that or AppleCare one which is $20 a month for three devices.

Legitimate IT support people will never ask for gift cards as payment. Hackers prey an older folks and have them drive around town and buy high value gift cards usually from Apple. If you see somebody buying a $500 gift card or multiple $500 gift cards it’s OK to say this might not be right. Clerks at the stores that sell gift cards should be on the lookout for these scams.

Proud MacMedics moment!!

Four summers ago, Parker joined us as an intern. Extremely smart, hardworking, and curious — the kind of person who asks the right questions and actually cares about the answer.

When he told today us he'd accepted an offer at Apple to work as a chip designer, we weren't surprised. We were honored to have been a small part of his Apple journey.

In a month, he'll be working on the chips inside the very Macs we service every day.

Apple isn't exactly handing out jobs like Halloween candy right now — Parker earned his. And we couldn't be happier for him.

Shout out to former interns:

A longtime, Mac‑specialized IT firm gets acquired by a multi‑state MSP. The contracts change. The team changes. And suddenly, clients who were used to having Apple‑savvy consultants who knew their environment are now stuck in a generic help‑desk queue where every issue has to be solved remotely by techs who primarily speak Windows.

If you run a mostly‑Mac shop, you know exactly what that transition feels like!

You go from "call the guy who helped us last time" to "submit a ticket, wait 2–3 business days, explain your setup again, and hope someone understands what a Mac actually needs."

And if your managed service provider just got rolled into a larger firm — you're not alone. We've already heard from several businesses in the Baltimore‑Annapolis‑Washington area experiencing this firsthand.

Here's the thing: you don't have to settle for it.

MacMedics has been supporting Macs since 1989 — before the Apple Store existed. We're independently owned, Apple‑focused, and we're not being acquired by anyone.

We hold three Apple authorizations (Business Partner, Technical Partner, and Authorized Service Provider) — the only firm in the DMV with that triple designation. So whether you need sales, consulting, or repairs, one team handles it all!

We don't require massive upfront retainers or lock you into per‑device monthly bundles filled with low‑quality tier‑one support. We'll work with you — full managed service, co‑managed with your in‑house IT, or on‑demand — using best‑in‑class MDM tools like Jamf and Mosyle when it actually makes sense for your environment.

If your Mac support just changed hands and it doesn't feel right… you have options. Let's talk. 1-888-4-DC-MACS

Just because someone tells you your computer is “dead” and your data is gone doesn’t automatically make it true.

We’ve had multiple recent cases where a shop called time of death, sold a brand‑new computer, and was flat‑out wrong — the old machine and the data were still recoverable.

Here’s how we handle it at MacMedics:

1. You can always stop by the shop and I’ll see if I can get your Mac to power on and behave. There’s no charge just to try that at the counter.
2. If the computer really won’t turn on, we have other ways to potentially bring it back to life. When we have to move beyond basic checks and start using more advanced procedures, we charge a 99 dollar diagnostic fee.

Bottom line: before you accept that your computer and your data are “gone,” let a data‑focused shop like MacMedics take a second look at it.

You don’t have to take the Apple Store‘s word that your machine is dead and similarly you do not have to take a big box store’s word that your computer is de...
