A graphic designer, illustrator and visual strategist that believes design should be made with intention; where it's felt, held, and remembered—not just scrolled past.
I’m a graphic designer and watercolor illustrator based in the Pacific Northwest, and the solo creative behind Opal Essence Finery.
My roots began in the print industry as a production artist, making custom prints and folding cards. Over the years, climbing the ladder and working in fast-paced corporate design resulted in me doing fewer physical folds and more digital deliverables. After a while, I started craving the tangible satisfaction of print and something more meaningful than a PowerPoint presentation. I missed the tactile connection to art: the weight of rich paper, the texture of watercolor, and the beauty of holding a designed, finished piece in your hands.
So, I stepped away from the corporate rush and founded my studio on a ‘slow art’ philosophy. I believe that extraordinary work takes time, intention, and genuine human connection. Rather than rushing through tight, arbitrary deadlines and following yes culture, I prioritize craftsmanship, storytelling, and meticulous attention to detail from the very start of any project.
I’m a problem-solver and an organized strategist at the foundation of my process. I need to know every feasible detail to move forward and deliver the desired result. Ideas are great, but an idea is like a wish until we work together to outline the steps and goals to get where we want to be—to refine ideas into something tangible, timeless, and valuable through logistics, budget, and clarity of the desired outcome.
