It's an interesting time for artists. I've always adjusted with the "times" in technology. When I started my graphic design career over 30 years ago, I was pasting up paper layouts on boards for gods sake.... but no doubt AI is a total game changer in my industry (ok, all industries!) but really for all true human artists who have pride in being creators of their own ideas and imagry. Honestly, I feel very sad about it all. Can AI help me in my work? Yes. BUT, might it ruin the spirit and dignity and joy of what I do? Probably. I will try to stay open to the opportunitues that AI presents and for the future generation, I guess a part of me is both terrified and excited for what will happen. In the meantime, I have just re-set up my studio... putting paint to canvas and pen to tablet and while I'm no Rembrandt or Monet, AND I know AI might be able to create any image people want, only I can paint the images and experiences of my life and what is in my own mind.
I encourage people to keep exploring their own creative interests and use their own minds to make up something unique. It may not be perfect (or even good), but the reward is in the discovery of trying and maybe finding a hidden talent, realizing you enjoy something new and connecting with other humans who are also seeking connection and creative outlets!
Feel free to check out my little gallery, which I hope to add more to very soon! It will be a work in progress for the rest of my human life 🎨🖼
