New tech allows you to reduce labor and optimize your entire process for growing strawberries.🍓

Recently, Koidra, University of Guelph and AAFC received a $1 million grant, enabling further advancement of technology for autonomous strawberry production.

The funding is part of the Homegrown Innovation Challenge, which is committing $33 million to big ideas that extend the growing season of berries in Canada.

By working to extend the country’s growing season for fresh produce, the goal is to reduce Canada’s dependence on imported fruits and vegetables, enabling a more resilient food system.

Koidra’s work focuses on using the power of artificial intelligence in controlled environments to optimize factors such as light, temperature, and CO2 levels.

Dr. Ken Tran of Koidra and Dr. Xiuming Hao from Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada are no strangers to autonomous greenhouse challenges, having teamed up to win contests in 2018 and 2022.
