I forgot these Philodendron cuttings existed… for TWO YEARS. 😭

A couple years ago, the mother plant had mealybugs, so I took a few leafless cuttings, disinfected them, tucked them into sphagnum moss in a Ziploc bag… and then completely forgot about them.

I finally found the bag again. Some had rotted, but somehow, a surprising number were still alive — and had even grown leaves in there.

So today, the survivors are finally getting a real home. 🌱

Honestly impressed they made it this far without me. 😂

These are 8 leaves from the same plant, arranged clockwise, with the numbers showing how many fenestrations each leaf developed.

It’s so interesting to see how the leaves became more complex as the plant matured. There were a few bumps along the way too — the plant went through some stress, and you can see that the progression isn’t perfectly linear.

Plants don’t always grow in a straight line, but that’s part of what makes watching them grow so fun. 🌱
