Physical AI is not the same hype as the last robotics wave. 🛑

Skeptics write off robotics funding as general AI hype spilling into hardware. But that misses where the real capital is actually flowing: autonomous labs and factories.

The money moving into Physical AI is fundamentally different this time:
🧪 **Science:** Autonomous labs run real experiments for drug discovery, acting as core infrastructure rather than just gadgets.
🚗 **Car Assembly:** Robotic systems handle precision manufacturing steps that previously required constant human calibration.
✈️ **Aerospace:** Autonomous systems tackle high-stakes builds where errors are extremely costly.

These industries prove Physical AI works at scale.

15 OCTOBER

Business Breakdowns just released a deep dive on "How the Best Operators in Tech Are Thinking About AI as an Operational System, Not a Feature."
I've been sitting with this framing all week.

We draw this line constantly with clients. The companies that are getting real, durable value from AI aren't treating it as a product feature. They've rebuilt operational systems around it. Hiring systems. QA systems. Client delivery systems. The AI isn't an add-on. It's load-bearing infrastructure.

What this episode captures so well is that the best operators aren't asking "how do we add AI to our product?" They're asking "if we started this operation from scratch today knowing AI exists, what would we never build the old way?" Those are completely different questions and they lead to completely different answers.

We asked ourselves that question 14 months ago about our own delivery model. The answer was uncomfortable because it meant retiring things we were proud of. We did it anyway. The margin difference in the work we do now versus 18 months ago is not incremental. It's structural.

AI as a feature is a sprint. AI as an operating system is a strategy.

What operational system in your business would you never build the same way if you were starting from scratch today?

Upgrading your tools gives the illusion of progress.

Solving the actual bottleneck builds an empire. 🧠

Don't let the endless cycle of AI updates distract you from fundamental business building. As the bluntly points out, "The model got smarter. Your unsolved problem is still unsolved". A newer, faster LLM won't fix a broken business model, find product-market fit, or do the hard work of talking to your customers. The best founders don't wait for the next iteration of technology to save them; they aggressively attack their core problems with the tools they have today.

The formula is simple:

1️⃣ Confront.
2️⃣ Execute.
3️⃣ Iterate.
4️⃣ Solve.

You don't win by having the smartest AI in your tech stack, but by being the most relentless at solving the core problem. Stop waiting. 🚀

AI power is quietly shifting to new territories. Not because of talent—because of chips. 🛑

Ask who leads AI, and most name a lab. The real answer is the supply chain. While everyone watches model releases, the true constraint is compute.

Chip scarcity is redrawing the global map. Those who secured supply early are quietly gaining leverage over everyone waiting in line.

Here is why compute access is the new leaderboard:

* **Zero substitutes:** Every AI roadmap is only as fast as its compute.
* **Talent won't fix it:** Elite research doesn't solve a hardware shortage.
* **Redrawing the map:** As established hubs hit capacity, new territories with compute gain sudden leverage.
* **Ex*****on at scale:** It closes the gap between who has the best AI and who can actually run it.

Compute is the new geopolitics, affecting labs, cloud providers, and governments alike.

Swipe through to see how the map is shifting. 👉

The a16z Podcast just dug into where all that AI infrastructure money is actually going wrong.
I've been sitting with this one all week.
At Slashdev we do something that sounds backwards: no AI tooling for a developer's first 30 days on a project. Zero. They map the system by hand first.
We keep watching teams pour six figures into agent infrastructure to move faster on products they can't yet explain. The tooling was never the bottleneck. The understanding was.
Here's the inversion the episode gets close to: AI isn't making these companies more productive. It's making them confidently wrong at scale, and funding the confidence.
Speed without comprehension isn't velocity. It's debt with a UI.
Founders, where did AI make your team faster and worse at the same time?

Merging complex code blindly creates future liabilities.

Demanding absolute clarity creates a bulletproof codebase. 🛡️

Don't let the pressure to ship quickly compromise your system's integrity. As the highlights with the official Slashdev merge rule: "If you can't explain it, it doesn't merge". Whether you are leveraging AI coding assistants or just moving fast, pushing code you don't fully comprehend into production is a guaranteed way to build a fragile house of cards. True engineering discipline requires that every contributor understands exactly what they are adding to the system.

The formula is simple:

1️⃣ Comprehend.
2️⃣ Explain.
3️⃣ Verify.
4️⃣ Merge.

You don't build a reliable product by guessing what your code does, but by mastering every single line you push to production. Keep building with intent. 🚀

Your "AI visibility" strategy might be aimed at the wrong platform. 🛑

Brands are rushing to optimize solely for ChatGPT, assuming Google’s AI Overviews are a minor side effect. That’s a massive mistake.

The reality of the search landscape:

* Google still drives more traffic than all chatbots combined.
* Google’s AI Overviews are expanding and dominating prime search real estate.
* A hybrid strategy is required—you must target both search engines and standalone chatbots.

Plus, two major shifts are changing how we measure visibility:
1️⃣ **Citation Tracking:** You can now actively track if AI models cite your brand as a primary source.
2️⃣ **Core Update Timing:** Prepping your content architecture now is critical before the next Google core update.

Swipe through to see where your search traffic is actually hiding. 👉

Freakonomics Radio just put out an episode on "What the Data Actually Says About AI Productivity vs. What Everyone Believes."
I've been sitting with the gap between those two things ever since.

We hear the productivity narrative constantly. AI is transforming output. Teams are 10x faster. Everything is better. And some of it is true. But the aggregate data is messier than the anecdotes. Productivity at the macro level hasn't moved the way the tool adoption numbers would predict.

What Stephen Dubner pulls apart so carefully, and this is the episode worth sending to your skeptical board member, is the difference between measuring activity and measuring outcomes. AI is clearly increasing activity. Whether it's increasing the right outcomes is a much harder question that most companies aren't even asking.

We added one metric to every AI-assisted project we run: outcome delta, not output delta. Not "how much faster did we produce this" but "did the thing we produced actually perform better?" The gap between those two numbers has been humbling and clarifying.

AI is making us more productive at producing things. Whether those things are more valuable is a different question entirely.

How does your team measure the quality of AI-assisted output, not just the quantity?

Obsessing over speed leads to perfectly executed failures.

Validating the problem ensures you build a successful solution. 🎯

Don't let the pressure to launch push you in the wrong direction. As the biggest risk you face isn't building slow; it's building the wrong thing at record speed. Founders often mistake rapidly shipping features for finding product-market fit, but sprinting full speed on a flawed premise is the fastest way to burn your runway.

The formula is simple:

1️⃣ Validate.
2️⃣ Strategize.
3️⃣ Execute.
4️⃣ Iterate.

You don't win by crossing the finish line first if you're running in the wrong direction. Keep building the right thing. 🚀

Generic AI just lost the enterprise war. Vertical AI won. 🛑

Industry specific tools are beating generic models across healthcare, finance, and engineering. You can use the same base model, but if you change the domain training, you get completely different results.

Ask a generic AI to review a claim, a contract, or a schematic, and while it "helps," it also gets the details wrong. General models are trained to sound right, not to know your industry's rules, edge cases, and failure modes. Every generic deployment hits the same wall: it doesn't know what it doesn't know.

Domain data beats bigger models every time:

Healthcare AI: Trained on real patient documentation to catch clinical red flags. Finance AI: Trained on compliance cases to flag what generic models miss. Engineering AI: Trained on specs and standards to understand tolerances, not just text.

Stop picking the "best" general AI model instead of the AI that best fits the job. Vertical tools reduce domain mistakes because they are built around one workflow, not a thousand.

Swipe through the carousel to see why domain training changes the outcome.

👉Stop forcing generic AI into specialized work today. Comment "VERTICAL" below, and I’ll DM you our framework on which industries are seeing the biggest gains and how to evaluate whether your workflow needs a vertical AI. Free, no pitch.
