🚦 Microsoft confirms Office apps launch issues after June updates

A Microsoft update just reminded businesses of a painful reality:
Even trusted software changes can create unexpected downtime.
Microsoft has confirmed issues where certain third-party applications are unable to launch Office apps or open documents after recent Windows updates. The impact includes tools that rely on Office automation, meaning workflows people depend on every day can suddenly stop working.
Now imagine this happening during:
❌ Month-end financial reporting
❌ Client presentations
❌ Contract reviews
❌ Critical operations
❌ Executive meetings
The scary part?
Most companies don’t discover these weaknesses until AFTER something breaks.
The organizations that recover fastest usually have one thing in common:
✅ They test changes before rolling them out
✅ They monitor their critical systems
✅ They have documented recovery plans
✅ They know exactly what happens when technology fails
Cybersecurity isn’t just about stopping hackers.
It’s about protecting business continuity.
Because downtime doesn’t care if the cause was:
ransomware
human error
a failed update
a software conflict
The result is the same:
💰 Lost productivity
📉 Lost revenue
😓 Frustrated employees and customers
Question for business leaders:
When was the last time your company tested what happens when a critical system suddenly stops working?
That answer could determine how painful your next IT issue becomes.

🔥 Microsoft Fixes Windows Update Failures Linked to WUSA Installer, A Reminder That “Updated” Doesn’t Always Mean Protected 🤷‍♂️
Most companies think:
“Windows Update is automatic. We’re protected.”
But here’s the uncomfortable reality:
A security patch that fails silently can be just as dangerous as having no security at all.
Microsoft recently fixed an issue in which Windows updates could fail when deployed via the Windows Update Standalone Installer (WUSA) from network shares, affecting enterprise environments running Windows 11 and Windows Server.
And this is the lesson many organizations miss:
🔴 A failed update is not just an IT inconvenience.
It can mean:
❌ Missing critical security patches
❌ Increased exposure to ransomware
❌ Compliance problems
❌ Unknown vulnerabilities sitting inside your environment
The modern cyber threat isn’t always obvious.
Sometimes it looks like:
“Update failed.”
“Try again later.”
“Everything seems fine.”
Until an attacker finds the gap first.
The organizations that stay protected don’t just ask:
“Do we have antivirus?”
They ask:
✅ Are our systems actually patched?
✅ Are backups tested?
✅ Are vulnerabilities being reviewed before criminals discover them?
✅ Would we know if something failed?
Cybersecurity is not about buying more tools.
It’s about making sure the tools and processes you already have are actually working.
💬 Question for IT leaders:
When was the last time your organization verified that every critical update actually installed successfully?
📮 Please comment “CHECKUP” or send us a message if you'd like to schedule a complimentary in-person IT review.

💻 After 20 Years in IT, Here’s What Still Surprises Us… 🤦‍♂️

Most companies don’t ignore cybersecurity.
They simply assume:
“We’re too small to be targeted.”
“We have antivirus, so we’re protected.”
“Our IT guy handles it.”
Until one day…
❌ The server goes down
❌ Employees can’t access critical files
❌ Email gets compromised
❌ Operations come to a complete stop
And suddenly, cybersecurity becomes an emergency instead of a strategy.
I recently spoke with a business owner who told me:
“Guy, we’ve never had a major IT issue.”
That’s exactly when I asked:
“When was the last time someone actually looked for the weaknesses BEFORE a cybercriminal did?”
The answer surprised him.
No one had.
That’s why I’m offering local businesses a complimentary on-site IT & cybersecurity review.
Not a sales pitch.
Not a scare tactic.
Just a practical review to identify:
✅ Hidden security gaps
✅ Network weaknesses
✅ Backup risks
✅ Potential downtime issues
✅ Ways to improve your IT operations
A small discovery today can prevent a very expensive lesson tomorrow.
Your business doesn’t need to wait for a cyber incident to find out where it’s vulnerable.

🔥 Every CEO Needs to Read This Before Their Team Uses ChatGPT Today.

Last week, I spoke with a business owner who confidently told me:
“We don’t use AI in our company.”
Ten minutes later, we discovered employees were using ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, and other AI tools every day.
💢 Without policies.
💢 Without monitoring.
💢 Without security controls.

Here's the scary part:
Many employees are unknowingly uploading:
🔹 Client information
🔹 Financial data
🔹 Internal documents
🔹 Proprietary business information..........into AI platforms.
Not because they're malicious.
Because they're trying to work faster.
Cybercriminals know this. 💯

In 2026, one of the fastest-growing cybersecurity risks isn't ransomware.
It's Shadow AI, employees using AI tools outside of IT's visibility.
The result?
⚠️ Data leaks
⚠️ Compliance violations
⚠️ Intellectual property exposure
⚠️ Increased cyber risk
The organizations that thrive won't be the ones that ban AI.
They'll be the ones that embrace it securely.
Ask yourself:
If an employee pasted sensitive company data into an AI tool right now, would you know about it?
If the answer is "maybe" or "probably not"...
It's time to have that conversation.
🚦 Cybercriminals only need one weakness. Do you know where yours is? Message us to redeem your complimentary on-site IT review before someone else finds it.

🔥 Before You Buy Another Security Tool, Read This. Is Your Business Ready? 🔐

Every week, I speak with business owners who believe their IT environment is secure...
Until a server crashes.
Until ransomware hits.
Until an employee clicks the wrong link.
Until operations stop.
The reality?
⚠️ Most businesses don't discover vulnerabilities until they're already paying the price.
That's why we're offering a complimentary 1-hour on-site IT review for organizations that want a second opinion on their technology, cybersecurity, and overall IT infrastructure.
Here's what we'll review:
✅ Network & Server Health
✅ Cybersecurity Risks & Vulnerabilities
✅ Backup & Disaster Recovery Readiness
✅ Workstation & Printer Performance
✅ Email & Cloud Infrastructure
✅ Cabling & Connectivity Issues
✅ IT Strategy & Future Growth Planning
✅ Fractional CTO Guidance
For over 20 years, we've helped businesses improve security, reduce downtime, and make smarter technology decisions.
The best cybersecurity investment isn't buying another tool.
It's identifying weaknesses before cybercriminals do.
💡 If you're responsible for your company's technology, ask yourself:
When was the last time an outside expert tried to find weaknesses in your environment before an attacker did?
📩 Please comment with the word "CHECKUP," and I'll share how to claim your complimentary consultation.

🤯 What if the biggest threat to your business is traffic your firewall allows?

For years, security teams have been taught to trust legitimate platforms.
Now attackers are weaponizing that trust.
Researchers uncovered a new credit card theft campaign where cybercriminals are abusing Stripe's infrastructure and Google Tag Manager to steal payment information directly from online checkout pages. The malicious activity is disguised behind domains that most businesses inherently trust.
Think about that for a second...
❌ Not a fake website.
❌ Not a suspicious domain.
❌ Not a phishing email.
The attack is hiding behind services many organizations use every day.
This is exactly why modern cybersecurity is no longer about blocking "bad" traffic.
It's about continuously verifying what "good" traffic is actually doing.
The bigger lesson?
Cybercriminals are evolving faster than traditional security strategies.
If your cybersecurity strategy still relies heavily on:
🔹 Antivirus
🔹 Firewalls
🔹 Employee awareness training..you're only defending against yesterday's threats.
Today's attackers are abusing trusted platforms, legitimate services, and authorized tools to blend in with normal business operations.
The question every business leader should ask is:
👉 If an attacker used a trusted platform already allowed in your environment, would your team detect it?
Most organizations don't know the answer until after the incident.
Cybersecurity isn't an IT problem anymore.
It's a business risk.
What concerns you more right now:
A) Ransomware
B) AI-powered attacks
C) Credential theft
D) Supply chain and trusted-platform attacks like this one

CYBERCRIMINALS JUST FOUND A NEW WAY TO WEAPONIZE AI TRUST ⚠️🚨
Think you're safe because the link says ChatGPT.com? Think again.
Security researchers have uncovered a campaign where threat actors are abusing ChatGPT's sharing feature to create fake OpenAI outage pages that trick users into downloading malware disguised as the ChatGPT desktop app. 😳💻
Here's what makes this attack so dangerous:
✅ Victims are redirected through legitimate-looking ChatGPT share links
✅ Fake outage messages claim the web version is unavailable
✅ Users are prompted to download a "desktop version" instead
✅ The download installs malware designed to steal sensitive information
✅ The attack leverages trust in well-known AI platforms to bypass suspicion
This is a major reminder that in 2026, cybercriminals are no longer just spoofing websites...
They're exploiting trusted AI ecosystems themselves. 🎯
💡 Before downloading ANY software:
🔹 Verify you're on the official vendor website
🔹 Avoid downloading software from ads or unexpected prompts
🔹 Double-check URLs carefully
🔹 Enable endpoint protection and MFA
🔹 Train employees to recognize AI-powered social engineering attacks
The biggest cybersecurity threat today isn't always a technical vulnerability.
It's trust being manipulated at scale.
Organizations that rely heavily on AI tools need to treat these platforms with the same security scrutiny as email, cloud applications, and collaboration tools.
How many employees in your company would click "Download Desktop App" if ChatGPT suddenly displayed an outage warning?

📢 Chrome users - this is a BIG cybersecurity win.

Google just rolled out new protection in Chrome designed to stop one of the fastest-growing attack methods: session cookie theft.
Why does this matter?
Because attackers no longer need your password if they can steal your active session token. That means hackers can bypass MFA and instantly access accounts as YOU. 😳
Google’s new feature, called Device Bound Session Credentials (DBSC), cryptographically ties sessions to your actual device, making stolen cookies useless to attackers.
This is a major step forward against:
✅ Infostealer malware
✅ Session hijacking
✅ MFA bypass attacks
✅ Account takeovers
But here’s the reality most businesses still miss:
🔴 Browser protection alone is NOT enough.
If malware already exists inside the environment, attackers can still:
• Steal credentials
• Access files
• Deploy ransomware
• Move laterally across systems
Cybersecurity today is no longer just about passwords.
It’s about layered protection, monitoring, user awareness, and proactive IT security reviews.
The companies that stay ahead in 2026 are the ones fixing risks BEFORE attackers find them. 🔐
If your organization hasn’t reviewed its cybersecurity posture recently, now is the time.

🚨 The scariest part about phishing attacks?
Most people STILL think they’re “easy to spot.” 🎣
They’re not.
Today’s phishing emails look exactly like:
✅ Microsoft notifications
✅ Bank alerts
✅ Vendor invoices
✅ DocuSign requests
✅ HR emails
✅ Password reset requests
And it only takes ONE employee clicking the wrong link to create:
💥 Data breaches
💥 Locked systems
💥 Financial loss
💥 Stolen credentials
💥 Days (or weeks) of downtime
Here’s what’s wild 👇
Hackers no longer target just large corporations.
Small businesses, medical offices, nonprofits, law firms, schools, and local organizations are now some of the MOST targeted because attackers know many teams lack advanced protection and employee awareness training.
🚩 A few phishing red flags everyone should know:
• Urgent language (“Act now!”)
• Suspicious links
• Unexpected attachments
• Requests for passwords/payment
• Slightly misspelled email domains
• Messages designed to create panic
📌 If you manage a business, now is a good time to ask:
“When was the last time our team completed cybersecurity awareness training?”
Because in 2026, cybersecurity is no longer just an IT issue.
It’s a business survival issue. 🔐
Have you or your company ever received a phishing email that looked surprisingly real? Drop a 👇 in the comments.
