🎓 3 things a 1-on-1 hour is not — and the one thing it always is.

Private tutoring picks up a bad reputation from three ideas that sound perfectly reasonable. Here is what we actually see every week in Schaumburg.

✕ "It's just supervised homework help." A session starts before the homework does — with the skill the homework is testing.

✕ "One hour a week can't change much." One focused hour aimed at the right gap does more than five unfocused ones at the kitchen table.

✕ "A tutor just repeats what the teacher already said." If repeating it were enough, it would have worked the first time. We teach it a different way.

✓ What a 1-on-1 hour actually is: time spent finding the one gap behind the wrong answers, then teaching the method that closes it — in your child's own schoolwork, aligned to District 54 and District 211 so tutoring never competes with class.

Grades 1-12. Math; English (reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, essays); ACT & SAT prep; and school quiz and chapter-test prep. 1-on-1 or small groups of 3-6, in person in Schaumburg or live online. Monthly written progress reports and parent-teacher conferences are included, our pricing is published, and there is no registration fee and no long-term contract.

📞 Start with a FREE 30-45 minute pre-assessment. You leave with a written learning plan for your child — yours to keep whether you enroll with us or not.

✍️ "I don't know where to start."

If your child sits in front of a blank page for twenty minutes before a single sentence appears, that is almost never a thinking problem.

It's a missing method. And a method can be taught.

Parents often tell us: "She reads constantly — I don't understand why the writing is such a fight." Reading and writing are two different skills. One does not automatically build the other.

So we break the essay into parts a student can actually practise:

🎯 What is your point? — one sentence, written first, before anything else.
📎 Show me the evidence — every claim gets an example.
✂️ Say it once, say it well — cut what repeats, then revise.

We work those steps on your child's own assignments — the essay that is actually due this week — aligned to District 54 and District 211 curriculum. One-on-one, or in a small group of 3 to 6 students, in person in Schaumburg or live online.

Monthly written progress reports and parent-teacher conferences are included. Our pricing is published, there is no registration fee and no long-term contract.

📘 October is when the work starts to pile up.

September was review. October is when new chapters arrive every week — and in a classroom of thirty, a child who is half a step behind doesn't get louder. They get quieter.

That's exactly the student our small groups were built for.

What a small group looks like at Expert Education Training 👇
👩‍🏫 One teacher, 3 to 6 students — every child gets looked at, every session
📗 Lessons follow your child's own school curriculum (District 54 and District 211)
✏️ Math and English — reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary and essays
📊 School quiz and chapter-test prep, plus ACT & SAT college entrance exam prep
🖊️ Monthly written progress reports and parent-teacher conferences included

And the four things parents ask about before they start:
1️⃣ Who it's for — grades 1 to 12
2️⃣ How it runs — groups of 3 to 6, or 1-on-1, in person in Schaumburg or live online
3️⃣ What you see — a written progress report every month
4️⃣ What it costs — published pricing, no registration fee, no long-term contract

🎯 Start with a FREE 30–45 minute pre-assessment. You'll leave with a written learning plan for your child — yours to keep whether you enroll with us or not.

📓 What if the problem was never how hard she tries?

Some kids put in the hours — desk, lamp, books open — and still walk into the quiz unsure. That is almost never an effort problem. It is a method problem.

Here is the routine we build with every student, and it is only three habits:

🗂️ PLAN IT — before the week starts, we decide together what actually needs reviewing, and in what order.
⏱️ WORK IT — short timed blocks instead of three hours at the kitchen table.
🗣️ CHECK IT — she says it back out loud, so we both know what stuck and what did not.

All of it runs on her own schoolwork — the same chapters and the same upcoming tests her District 54 or District 211 teacher is giving. One-on-one, or in a small group of 3 to 6 students, in person in Schaumburg or live online.

Every month you get a written progress report and a parent-teacher conference to go with it. Our pricing is published, there is no registration fee, and there is no long-term contract.

🎯 Start with a FREE 30–45 minute pre-assessment. We will show you exactly where your child is right now and hand you a written learning plan — and that plan is yours to keep whether you enroll with us or not.

📘 "I read it twice. I still froze."

If your child has ever said something close to that after a chapter test, you already know the hardest part: they did put the time in. The studying just had no shape.

That's what one test-prep session at Expert Education Training is for. Here's the hour 👇

🕒 FIRST 10 MINUTES — what the test actually covers. We open the chapter, the teacher's study guide and the last quiz, and we write down what is really being asked.

📑 NEXT 20 MINUTES — the pages that carry the marks. Not the whole chapter. The six or so pages the questions keep coming back to.

🗣️ NEXT 15 MINUTES — a practice quiz, answered out loud. Saying it back is where you find out whether your child knows it or only recognises it.

✏️ LAST 10 MINUTES — re-do the two that slipped. Every session ends on the things that went wrong, not the things that went right.

Every session follows your child's own classroom — District 54 and District 211 material, their teacher's study guide, their chapter. One-on-one or in a small group of 3 to 6 students, in person in Schaumburg or live online. Grades 1 to 12, in math, English and ACT & SAT prep.

You get a written progress report every month and a parent-teacher conference to go through it. Published pricing, no registration fee, no long-term contract.

🎯 START WITH A FREE PRE-ASSESSMENT — a 30 to 45 minute session plus a written learning plan your family keeps, whether you enrol or not.

"I didn't want to be the one who got it wrong."

That is what she told us at her pre-assessment. She was not behind. She just never raised her hand — and in a class of thirty, nobody noticed.

Here is what changes in a room of three to six students. 🙋

A teacher can only truly track so many students at once. At five, she can track all of them:

1️⃣ One is ahead on this unit — give her harder work
2️⃣ One is stuck on a single step — re-teach that step
3️⃣ One knows it and never says so — ask her directly
4️⃣ One is rushing the checks — slow the pace
5️⃣ One is ready to explain it — let him teach it

Five students. Five different next steps. The same hour.

That is the whole reason our groups stay at 3 to 6:

👀 SEEN — nobody sits at the back
🗣️ HEARD — a question in front of four classmates is a far smaller risk than one in front of thirty
📘 PACED — lessons follow your child's own school curriculum (District 54 and District 211)
📊 CHECKED — monthly written progress reports and parent-teacher conferences, included

Grades 1–12. Math, English, ACT & SAT prep, and school quiz and chapter-test prep. In person in Schaumburg or live online. Published pricing, no registration fee, no long-term contract. 1-on-1 is available too, if that fits your child better.

🎯 Start with a FREE 30–45 minute pre-assessment. We will show you exactly where your child is strong and where the gaps are, and the written learning plan is yours to keep whether you enroll or not.

4 sections. 1 pacing plan. Built around one student's results. 📘

Most families come to us with the same worry: "We know the ACT and SAT are coming — we just don't know where to start." So they buy a thick prep book, and it sits on the desk.

Here's what we do instead.

Before anything is scheduled, your student sits a FREE 30–45 minute pre-assessment. We don't just score it. We look at where the points are actually going — which section eats the clock, which question types come back wrong again and again, and which areas are already solid and only need to stay warm.

Then we write the plan around that one student. 🎯

1️⃣ Where we spend the hour — the one or two sections costing the most points.
2️⃣ What gets timed — pacing practice only where rushing is the real problem.
3️⃣ What we leave alone — strong areas get maintenance, not busywork.
4️⃣ What it looks like week to week — so you can see the work, not just hope.

That's the difference. Not a generic course your student sits through — a plan written from their own results, taught by a professional instructor.

📗 Tutoring is 1-on-1 or in a small group of 3 to 6 students, in person here in Schaumburg or live online.
✏️ Test prep runs alongside school, not on top of it — lessons stay aligned to your student's own District 54 and District 211 curriculum, so chapter tests and quizzes don't slide while they prepare.
🖊️ Published pricing, no registration fee, no long-term contract.
📊 Monthly written progress reports and parent-teacher conferences are included, so you always know exactly where things stand.

And the pre-assessment plan is yours to keep whether you enroll with us or not.

From reading every night — to understanding what he read. 📖

Twenty minutes a night in the reading log is a habit. It is not the same thing as comprehension.

Plenty of children read a page perfectly out loud — good pace, right expression, not a word missed — and then cannot tell you what actually happened in it. Parents see the fluency and reasonably assume the understanding came with it. Then a chapter test asks WHY a character did something, and the answer was never written on the page.

Fluent reading and real comprehension are two different skills. Only one of them shows up in a reading log.

The good news: the second one is teachable, and it is what our English sessions are built around. We don't just listen to your child read. We stop and ask:

1️⃣ Why that word — what does it mean right here, in this sentence?
2️⃣ Say that back to me in your own words.
3️⃣ Show me the line that proves your answer.

What an EET English session actually builds:
📗 Comprehension — retelling, main idea, and finding the evidence
🔤 Vocabulary in context — working out a new word from the sentence around it
✏️ Grammar that sticks — taught inside their own writing, not on a worksheet alone
🖊️ Writing & essays — planning first, so the blank page stops being the hard part

Grades 1–12. One-on-one or in small groups of 3–6 students, in person in Schaumburg or live online. Lessons follow your child's own school curriculum, including District 54 and District 211.

"He knows the math — he's just careless." 📐

Almost every parent of a math student has said some version of this. Sometimes it's true. More often, "careless" turns out to be one rule that never got locked in — and once that step is missing, every problem built on top of it goes wrong the same quiet way, for months.

Here's the version we see most: a student distributes 2(x + 5) and writes 2x + 5. Lines three and four are then done perfectly, and the test still comes back wrong. Nothing about that is carelessness. It's one step that was never really learned.

That's why we don't open with a worksheet. 📝 We watch your child work, find the exact step where the thinking breaks, and rebuild it until it's automatic. Most of the time a tutor can name that step in the very first session.

What parents describe — and what we usually find:
1️⃣ "He rushes and makes silly errors." → a setup step he skips, because nobody taught him to write it down.
2️⃣ "She knows it at home, then blanks on the test." → recall isn't automatic yet, so she's re-deriving under a clock.
3️⃣ "Math was fine until this year." → a gap from an earlier grade that this year's topics now sit on top of.

Math tutoring for grades 1–12, one-on-one or in small groups of 3 to 6 students, in person in Schaumburg or live online.
