I've been hit like a truck with a disastrous news today: my long time friend, Richard (Squize) Myles passed away two weeks ago. He was 2 years older than me :(
I met him through my Flash work back in 1999 and we became fast friends. His corrosive sense of humor, doubled with a sheer brilliance at coding and designing fun games immediately impressed me, and very quickly we started collaborating on Browser and Mobile games. In total, we made 8 games together, between 2009 and 2015. The biggest of them all, the Outpost Trilogy being a massive hit, that led to the creation of Garage Collective, Richard being the other co-founder.
I've also used his talents within my advertising career, including a Mobile game that got us a Silver Addy in 2015...
He came to visit us twice in the US and I have such found memories of our time together in New Orleans!
Later, he moved on to develop his dream project, Foxen, while I shifted to VR. Even though we parted ways, working on different projects, we kept in touch often through private messages and twitter.
I was hoping one day to surprise him by visiting England - I guess I waited too long :(
Goodbye my Friend, and thanks for turning me into a proper game developer: I learned a LOT from working with you!
You marked my life, and I will remember you forever!
