You got to work on time. Your computer did not.
You sit down at your desk and open your email. While that loads, you grab a cup of coffee.
You come back, open your browser, and wait another minute. Your first application freezes, so you close it and open it again. By lunch, you’ve rebooted once because “that usually fixes it.”
Nothing is actually broken. You’ve just lost fifteen or twenty minutes without really noticing it.
Sound familiar?
We tend to think about IT problems as things that stop working entirely. But sometimes the bigger problem is technology that works just well enough that everyone gets used to the workarounds.
Productivity can be taken by slow computers, unreliable Wi-Fi, and apps that need to be restarted, among a host of other annoyances.
Eventually, people stop reporting the problem. They just build it into their day.
Good technology should just let you get on with what you were there to do.
