At SPEROS, we want to keep our clients informed about emerging cyber threats. One attack we are seeing more frequently involves fake CAPTCHA or "Verify You're Human" pages that impersonate trusted services such as Cloudflare.

These fraudulent pages attempt to trick users into infecting their own computers by following malicious instructions.

What Does the Scam Look Like?
The fake verification page may instruct you to:
- Press Windows + R
- Open PowerShell or Terminal
- Paste a command into the prompt
- Press Enter to "verify" you are human

While the page may appear legitimate, these instructions are designed to execute malware on your device.

Why Is This Dangerous? Following these instructions can:
- Install malware or ransomware
- Steal passwords and sensitive information
- Provide attackers with remote access to your computer
- Compromise business networks and company data

How to Protect Yourself:
✅ Close the webpage immediately if prompted to run commands.
✅ Never copy and paste commands from websites into Run, Command Prompt, PowerShell, or Terminal.
✅ Contact Speros if you accidentally followed the instructions or believe your device may be compromised.
✅ When in doubt, stop and ask before clicking.
Remember

Legitimate CAPTCHA and verification systems will never ask you to open PowerShell, Command Prompt, Terminal, or Run commands on your device.

If a website asks you to run commands to prove you're human, it's a strong indicator of a scam.
