This week has been heavy for me, I do share much about my day to day work but this week I had several patients that really โgot to meโ. Patients that are in the mid 50โs like me, being diagnosed with the cancer, it is getting harder and harder for me to not cry, to keep my brave face for them as I stare in their eyes as they are getting their ports placed, or having their biopsies or getting fluid drained off the lungs or abdomen because their bodies are failing. I hold their hands, I encourage them, give them medicine to get them thru, I listen to their stories, I hold all of them in my heart and mind and carry them with me every day. Telling them they are strong and they will beat this, I pray long and hard that my words come true for them.
I am sorry to share this I just canโt hold it in any more.
Do I love my job? Yes, but my heart is aching. I know I make a difference for my patients. That is what keeps me going.
Anyway, here is a small autumn collection, my time to draw and be creative has been far and few between, work has been so busy and when Iโm home my time is for my husband , kids, grandkids โฆ I am looking forward to all that this holiday weekendโฆ I will enjoy this 4 day break to give my heart a rest and focus on the most important parts of my life.
