That usually means someone has done a lot of work behind the scenes to make sure everything is connected, protected, and working the way it should.

It’s all fun and cheap labor until… they own the keys to your business. 😬

We came across a story today about a business owner who hired virtual assistants to help run parts of his company.

Then things went VERY wrong.

According to the IT professional helping him afterward, the business owner lost access to his Google Workspace, Google Voice, websites, domains and other systems.

Basically… the people hired to help operate the business ended up controlling the digital assets the business depended on.

The lesson isn't “don't hire outside help.”

It's this:

👉 Your business should ALWAYS own and control the master accounts.
👉 Contractors and employees should have only the access they actually need.
👉 MFA and recovery methods should stay under company control.
👉 When someone leaves, their access should leave with them.

Cheap help can get very expensive when access and ownership aren't managed properly.

The Trojans probably thought the horse was pretty useful, too. 😏

AI is being welcomed into businesses at an incredible pace.

Employees are using it to:
• Write emails
• Summarize documents
• Analyze spreadsheets
• Draft proposals
• Troubleshoot problems
• Upload files and screenshots for help

And most business owners have absolutely no idea what company information is being handed to AI in the process.

The question isn't:

“Does your company use AI?”

At this point, you should probably assume the answer is yes.

The better questions are:

Which AI tools are your employees using?
What data are they putting into them?
What accounts and systems can those tools access?
And what happens to that information once it leaves your environment?

AI can be an incredibly powerful business tool.

But opening the gates first and asking what's inside later?

History suggests that's not a great security strategy. 🐴

Before your business adopts AI, make sure your IT and security policies have caught up with it.

Because sometimes the biggest cybersecurity risk isn't someone breaking in.

It's what we willingly invite through the front door.

💡 A full hard drive doesn't have room for what's next.

The same is true in business.

In IT, when servers are running at 95% capacity, performance suffers. Updates fail. Backups become more difficult. Even small issues can turn into big problems because there's no room to breathe.

Businesses aren't much different.

When every minute, every resource, and every decision is stretched to the limit, there's very little capacity left for growth, innovation, or unexpected opportunities.
