Music Is Meant to Be Shared
More Than Loudspeakers. More Than Customers. A Family.
During my recent visit to Arizona, I had the pleasure of spending three wonderful days with Will and Lucy, an amazing couple who have been married for an incredible 47 years!
They welcomed me into their beautiful home with such warmth and hospitality that I genuinely felt like part of their family. And that is something I truly cherish.
The purpose of my visit was to install and acoustically optimize a pair of "Clarisys Audio Studio Mk2"l oudspeakers, specifically chosen to become part of their living room rather than a dedicated listening space.
This is something we at Clarisys feel strongly about.
Music is meant to be enjoyed together, not just by one person sitting in the perfect sweet spot.
For Will and Lucy, this meant achieving excellent sound quality both on-axis and off-axis, allowing them to enjoy music wherever they choose to sit. Equally important was delivering beautiful, engaging sound at lower listening levels, something particularly important to Lucy.
We spent two full days measuring and optimizing the system. A special thank you to Lucy for patiently putting up with countless measurements and test signals in her living room. Turning someone's home into an acoustic laboratory for two days isn't exactly everyone's idea of fun!
And a big thank you to Matt from Suncoast Audio, who helps me with these installations. Our loudspeakers certainly aren't something you can move around alone, and his assistance and hard work are greatly appreciated!
But this visit was about much more than loudspeakers.
Will took the time to show me around Arizona, sharing the fascinating history of the American West, Native American heritage, and the region itself. We had a wonderful time exploring, talking, and enjoying some fantastic barbecue. And I have to say, Will knows how to cook one mean steak!
It's experiences like these that remind me why I love what I do.
And Will and Lucy are certainly not an exception.
I experience the same warmth when visiting my extended family in Florida, spending time with Gary and his wonderful wife Pat in Ohio, where I also had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Newton, a dear friend of Gary and mine. And even now, writing this from New York while staying with Franklin's family, I'm reminded just how special these relationships have become.
The relationships we build through Clarisys go far beyond owning loudspeakers. They become genuine friendships, and often something that feels very much like family.
This is a philosophy shared by Mike at Suncoast Audio, Bac and Bao in Vietnam, and myself. We may live on different continents, but we share the same passion for music and commitment to our customers.
Our customers make a considerable investment in their systems, and we genuinely enjoy helping them get the most out of it, whether through advice on acoustics, electronics, speaker positioning, or personally spending days optimizing their systems.
For us, delivering a loudspeaker isn't the end of the relationship. It's often just the beginning.
We love developing loudspeakers and pursuing better sound, but ultimately, it's the people, friendships, and shared love of music that make everything worthwhile.
Because high-end audio isn't about impressing people with specifications or measurements. It's about enjoying music and bringing people together.
Will and Lucy, thank you for opening your home to me, for the wonderful hospitality, the fantastic food, and most importantly, your friendship.
