** ANOTHER BIG OL' VINYL DROP **

Happy Almost Saturday! We’ve got another great drop of LPs for you this weekend-- it's the non-promo stuff from the most excellent promo vinyl collection we put out last week-- and it's every bit as good as that stuff! So what’s in it? We're putting out 7 Fresh Wall Records and 200+ LPs in the new arrivals bin!

Let's start with the wall records. First up is a 1972 1st Pressing of Transformer by LOU REED -- killer vinyl condition on this one.

Next is an absolutely STERLING Rain Dogs by TOM WAITS. This is the 1985 first pressing and has a PROMO STAMP on the back! This thing seems like it was NEVER played!

Let's turn to some great soul records for a change-- this one is our pick for greatest live album of all time (no, REALLY)-- SAM COOKE's unbelievable Live at the Harlem Square Club 1963. This is the first pressing of this release from 1985.

Next is one we don't see often-- WILLIAM DEVAUGHN's classic low rider soul album--Be Thankful for What You Got-- a CLEAN first pressing from 1974.

Next is one we haven't had for 2 years (or more!)-- a 1969 1st UK pressing of BLIND FAITH's self-titled album. It's immaculate!

That's followed by an ultra clean first pressing of LED ZEPPELIN's Physical Graffiti!

Finally -for the wall records anyway- it's a first pressing from 1979 of PINK FLOYD's The Wall with the first sleeve variation. Nice vinyl, too!

** PROMO VINYL LP SALE **

Happy Saturday! We’ve got a very special LP sale for you this week: we recently acquired a collection of dozens of PROMOTIONAL records that were originally sent to KFRC, a radio station in San Francisco during the 70’s and 80’s. Promotional records were the ones made first- they were sent to radio stations before the album hit stores in order to build a buzz. They were made in small quantities- usually a few thousand at the most- and the promo LPs in this collection are in terrific shape, many of them unplayed!

So what’s in the collection? We're putting out 10 Fresh Wall Records and 200+ LPs in the new arrivals bin. Let's kick it off with the wall records. First up is a 1977 1st Pressing of Lust for Life by IGGY POP with the "demonstration not for sale" stamp on the back. SUPER CLEAN!

Next one is another one from Iggy: THE IDIOT, also a 1977 first pressing with a "demonstration" stamp.

That's followed by two from DAVID BOWIE-- first off, a 1977 first pressing with the "demonstration" stamp on the back.

Then, a 1977 1st pressing of HEROES, also with the "demonstration stamp" !

Next-- two from THE RAMONES-- a 1977 1st pressing of LEAVE HOME with the "demonstration" stamp on the front...

And a 1986 1st pressing of ANIMAL BOY with the "promotional" stamp on the front! Both are SUPER Clean.

That's followed by one we've never seen before-- it's a Factory TEST PRESSING of TOM PETTY Damn the Torpedoes from 1979. These were meant to be tests coming from the Factory but some would be given to radio stations to build early buzz. Very few of these would have been made- less than a hundred in many cases. This one is SUPER clean and has the plain white label with the catalogue number on it.

Next is ANOTHER Petty test pressing-- this one is for the promo-only release "The Official Live Bootleg" recorded in 1976. It's a single-sided disc with a promo label on one side and a test pressing label on the other side. The sleeve in plain white with a Petty logo sticker on it!

The last two for the wall are a bit more obscure but also great-- first is ROBBIE BASHO's classic Venus in Cancer on the Blue Thumb label. It's a WHITE LABEL PROMO from 1970.

And then we have a rare soul album from BOBBY PATTERSON-- "It's Just a Matter of Time" from 1972. It's got a DJ stamp on the back and it's a great mix of sweet soul and funky sounds.

** SPOOKY VINYL DROP **

Happy October and Happy Saturday! We’re kicking off Spooky Season with a bunch of Halloween-related LPs plus a killer drop of rare World, 80's and classic rock ! It adds up to 5 Wall Records and 200+ Fresh LPs in the New Arrivals bin!

Let's start with the wall records- GOBLIN's soundtrack to Suspiria is one of the spookiest records of all time. This is the 1977 Japanese first pressing!

Next we've got a few cool records from around the world. The first of these is JORGE BEN's Africa Brasil, a 1978 pressing of this absolutely essential Brazilian MPB/funk masterpiece!

Next is a 1970 UK first pressing of The AFRICAN BROTHERS DANCE BAND. This is a absolutely KILLER Ghanaian Highlife band and this copy is clean!

Going a bit more obscure, we've got EVOLUCAO AFRICA-- a band from Cape Verde in the African Merengue / Samba style. You'll find it difficult to find a copy of this anywhere in the US. It's killer and this first pressing from 1976 is super clean!

Finally -for the wall records- we've got a 2005 first pressing of SAINT ETIENNE's Travel Edition 1990-2005. This is a rare and out of print double LP compilation of this very cool group.

** WEIRD EIGHTIES-DOMINATED DROP **

Happy Saturday! We're psyched to bring you 5 fresh wall records and 200+ new arrivals with a bit of an 80's bent- and not the usual 80's stuff, either! Maybe all the talk about our post-punk, industrial and alternative rock posters last weekend had a cosmic effect, because a fellow sold us a box of interesting 80's rarities this Monday..

Let's start with one we get requests for all the time-- Spirit of Eden by TALK TALK. This is a beautiful 1988 1st pressing, too!

Next up is a 1st pressing of TRACY CHAPMAN's classic self-titled album, also from 1988.

Then we've got a 1st pressing of THE BLUE NILE's 1989 album Hats. Such a hard record to categorize and we haven't seen one for YEARS.

That's followed by one we've never had before-- OINGO BOINGO's double LP Alive from 1988. Super clean!

Finally -for the wall records- we've got a 1990 1st pressing of TOAD THE WET SPROCKET's Pale. This is the pressing on pale green vinyl that is SUPER hard to find (we've never had a copy of this record in any format in the shop, either!)

Let's start with two wall records with... POSTERS! Yes that's right, we've got two great rarities with their original posters-- first up, ALL THINGS MUST PASS by George Harrison. This is a really nice first pressing.

Next up is a 1973 1st pressing of PINK FLOYD's Dark Side of the Moon with both posters!

We’ve also got a first pressing from 1987 of LINDA RONSTADT's classic Canciones de mi Padre.

Finally, there are FOUR, yes 4, ROLLING STONES rarities going out.

First up is a 1965 UK mono pressing of "Rolling Stones No. 2" -- and it's still in the shrinkwrap (!)

Next is a 1965 1st UK stereo pressing of OUT OF THEIR HEADS:

Next is an INCREDIBLY rare 1971 Costa Rica (!) pressing of THEIR SATANIC MAJESTIES REQUEST with the hologram cover. These were sold in Costa Rica with the US-made sleeve and a Costa Rican disc!

Finally -for the wall records- there's a nice 1972 1st pressing of EXILE ON MAIN STREET!

** JAZZ & BLUES EXTRAVAGANZA **

Happy Saturday! We've got a KILLER themed drop for you this weekend- 11 fresh wall records and 200+ new arrivals-- First Pressing Jazz, Blues, Soul & New Mexico Music (in time for Fiestas!) in the bin! We haven't had a jazz drop this solid for MONTHS and we're pumped!

(Reminder that all of the following is available first come first serve at the shop Saturday at 11AM and not before!)

Let's get right to the wall records-- first up we've got a bunch of original BLUE NOTE records-- kicking off with The Stylings of HORACE SILVER, a first mono pressing from 1957!

Next is a well known classic - ART BLAKEY & THE JAZZ MESSENGERS at the Jazz Corner of the World. This one is a 1959 1st mono pressing with some light noise.

Then we've got two first pressing ORNETTE COLEMAN records- The At the Golden Circle Stockholm Volume One, a 1966 1st mono pressing...

and Volume Two, another 1966 1st mono pressing.

The last of the Blue Note pressings on the wall (there are more in new arrivals) is a 1966 1st stereo pressing of DONALD BYRD's Mustang!

Next up we've got a 1966 stereo pressing of JOHN COLTRANE's My Favorite Things.

That's followed by a really nice first mono pressing of SONNY ROLLINS' classic The Bridge from 1962.

Next one is a bit more obscure but pretty cool... THE SONNY CRISS ORCHESTRA's Sonny's Dream (Birth of The New Cool).. it's a 1968 first pressing with some surface noise but it's a loud pressing and sounds pretty good anyway!

Next up is a 2008 Analogue Productions stereo audiophile pressing of THE BILL EVANS TRIO's Portrait in Jazz-- renowned as one of the best versions of this album.

Leaving Jazz for a second, we've got a VERY clean 1965 MONO pressing of HOWLIN' WOLF's self-titled "Rocking Chair" album. This one has the TRUE mono mix (not the reprocessed stereo of other 60's pressings).

Finally -for the wall records- we've got some hometown heroes just in time for Santa Fe's Fiestas - LUMBRE DEL SOL was a popular band here featuring David Borrego (of the now-closed Borrego's Guitars!) -- 1988's The Power of the Moon features a track called Salsa Chicana, a scorching Santana-style Latin Rock mashup. This may be only the second copy we've ever seen at the shop!

80 Year Old Recording of the Fiesta Song?

Just in time for the festivities this weekend, thought I’d share this cool piece of local history…

Last week we dug a 78 RPM acetate record out of a closet here in town that was marked “Santa Fe Fiesta” on one side and found this recording on it (massively cleaned up by our own Will Courtney!)

There’s no details of the musicians on the disc, but other discs in the group seemed to have belonged to S. Omar Barker, early 20th century Las Vegas NM politician and cowboy poet.

Because the flip side of this song is an instrumental song called “Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe” - which was at the height of its popularity around 1945 / 1946 - we’re guessing this recording came from around that time.

Does anyone have any guesses as to the musicians or the exact date?

** Seventies & Eighties Rock EXPLOSION **

Happy Saturday! We've got a great themed drop for you this weekend- 6 fresh wall records and 200+ new arrivals from the 70's and 80's-- Punk, Art Rock, New Wave, Alternative, Indie & More in the bin! Most of them are true first pressings of KILLER albums we almost never see in Santa Fe and we're psyched about it!

Let's get right to the wall records-- first up is THE REPLACEMENTS' classic Let It Be, a first pressing from 1984. This one has a bit of surface noise but still plays pretty well! Haven't seen one in MONTHS.

Next is an even rare Replacements disc-- THE REPLACEMENTS STINK is a semi-bootleg live disc released by the band in 1982. It comes with a HAND-STAMPED sleeve and some killer cuts. This one also has a bit of surface noise but sounds pretty good to our ears!

Next is fellow Minnesotans HUSKER DU with a 1983 first UK pressing of METAL CIRCUS. This 12" / 45rpm disc is the band's fourth ever release and is in pretty great shape!

Next is a UK first pressing from 1980 of JOY DIVISION's Closer! Vinyl is pretty good here as well...

Then we've got one we almost NEVER see-- THE CRAMPS' Songs the Lord Taught Us, a clean first pressing from 1980.

Finally -for the wall records anyway- we've got a first pressing of PATTI SMITH's classic Horses from 1975. Nice vinyl!

Happy Saturday! We're getting extra HEAVY this Saturday with 7 Fresh Wall Records and 200+ new arrivals in the bin-- many of the heavy variety! We're loaded with tons of 70's and 80's hard rock and metal PLUS some great SOUL, blues and classic rock titles-- many of them in fantastic condition!

First, to the wall records--let's kick it off with a trio of LPs from BLACK SABBATH... First, the 1970 1st pressing of the self-titled album (clean!)

Next, a nice 1971 first pressing of PARANOID...

And then a 70's pressing of MASTER OF REALITY from... Singapore! Rare and the quality on this press is surprisingly strong, too!

Those are followed by a 1987 pressing of the essential APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION From Guns'n'Roses, the second sleeve version. Nice vinyl!

The next one is a bit of a precursor to the glam days of the 80's - a favorite of ours from the early 70's: THE NEW YORK DOLLS' debut record, a 1973 1st pressing.

Finally -for the wall records at least- we've got a really nice first pressing of THE WHITE ALBUM. This one has nice vinyl, all four inserts and the big poster AND it's a very low number-- it was made in the first run of 40,000 copies in the USA! We almost never see numbers under 200,000.

One last last one- a rare Mexican picture disc of VAN HALEN’s 1984!

** KINKS, BOWIE & THE DEAD, OH MY! **

Happy Saturday! We're back to our old tricks with a killer drop of 12 fresh wall records and 200+ new arrivals in the bin. This week we've pulled some some titles we haven't seen in AGES as well as some we've never even seen before! We're loaded with tons of 60's, 70's and 80's classic rock titles-- many of them in fantastic condition!

First, to the wall records-- amid rumors of rapprochement between the Davies brothers, let's start it off with THE KINKS- we haven't had much of their 60's output for some months now but today we've got a nice 1968 first pressing of THE VILLAGE GREEN PRESERVATION SOCIETY on the wall!

Next is a super nice first pressing of DAVID BOWIE's Ziggy Stardust from 1972... and there's SO MUCH MORE Bowie in new arrivals, too!

Then we have a trio of GRATEFUL DEAD "Imports" (Bootlegs). The First two are TWO double LP sets taken from the April 8 1985 show at the Philadelphia Spectrum-- first up, "Stella Blue" (Part 1)...

Next, "Brokedown Palace" (Part 2).

The third Dead release is a 1987 double LP set called PHONETIC PHILISTINE. It's taken from a June 30 1987 show in Toronto.

That's followed by a clean (!) first pressing of LED ZEPPELIN's Physical Graffiti...

Then an out of print 2015 4 LP Box Set of JIMMY PAGE's soundtrack recordings for Death Wish II and Lucifer Rising!

Next is a rare 1970's "Import" of JANIS JOPLIN live in Honolulu 1970-- the recording is EXCELLENT for a bootleg and the records are in terrific condition.

It's followed by another bootleg: STEALIN' - this is the second ever Dylan boot to be made in 1969, with outtakes from Bringing It all Back Home and Highway 61 plus some tracks from 1961. It this is the blue vinyl pressing!

That's followed up by a clean first pressing of THE JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE from 1967 on the tri-color label.

Then we've got a very nice first pressing of PINK FLOYD'S Dark Side of the Moon from 1973 with both stickers AND both posters (and they are pristine!)

Finally, we've got one last copy of the MICHAEL JACKSON Thriller Mobile Fidelity pressing from 2022. 180 gram and one of the best sounding version of this record.
