24 days to pull a report. By the time it landed, the numbers were already old.

A U.S.-based staffing consultancy running on Bullhorn had a reporting problem a lot of teams will recognize. Recruiters exporting to Excel by hand. Data scattered across systems that didn’t talk to each other. A 24-day reporting cycle in a business where placements already move in 44 days or less.

: Test a restore now, while Q4 is still quiet.

You've got about eight weeks before year-end close, audit prep, change freezes, and out-of-office replies all show up at once. That's plenty of time to find a gap in your recovery plan. It's not much time to fix one in December.

So while things are calm, run one real restore test:

→ Pick a real scenario, like a bulk update gone wrong or a deleted account with all its related records → Restore it to a sandbox start to finish, and time it → Check that relationships came back too, not just records. Opportunities still tied to accounts? Files still attached? → Make sure more than one person on the team knows how to do it → Save the results. Auditors will ask for proof of tested recovery, and "we have backups" isn't proof

Salesforce doesn’t automatically give you point-in-time recovery. Its native tools cover the basics:
→ Recycle Bin: deleted records, for 15 days
→ Weekly Data Export: a snapshot, not a timeline, and no metadata
→ Field History Tracking: selected fields, limited retention

Here’s what they don’t let you do: roll one field on one record back to the exact version you need.

So when a bad import or a misfired automation overwrites good data, the fix shouldn’t mean restoring the whole org from last Sunday.

Not every system you need to connect to shows up on a vendor's connector list.
That's usually where teams either give up on the integration or hand it to a developer for a one-off script that nobody maintains six months later.

Before you sign on with a data consulting partner, ask:
→ Can you build a connector for a system that isn't "officially" supported?
→ Will it keep working when the source system updates?
→ Who owns it after go-live, you or us?
The systems on a connector list aren't the ceiling. They're just the ones that got built first.

Say hello to Robert Janicki, our Sales Operations Manager!

Before he came to Sesame Software, Robert spent 10+ years with the San Jose Sharks and worked as a QA Lead at Apple. He's been with us for 11 years now, and he's helped keep our renewal and retention rates high year after year.

Outside of work, Robert is all about hockey. He plays it, watches it and used to coach youth hockey. He also runs a farm with goats, chickens and ducks, and takes his classic cars to local car shows. And here's one you wouldn't guess: he has a black belt in Tae Kwon Do.

One Salesforce backup. Two rules that disagree.

HIPAA says keep certain health records for years. GDPR says an individual can ask you to delete their data. Put both on the same backup and you have a real conflict.

The fix is retention rules per data category, not one clock for the whole org.
