I didn’t realize how much mental energy I was wasting…
until another Sunday rolled around.

I’d sit down to prep a lesson from General Conference
with tabs open, notes everywhere,
trying to decide—

What direction should I even take this?

And by the time I figured it out…
I was already tired.

Not from teaching—

The best teachers simplify complex truths.

I didn’t always believe that.

I used to think being a “good teacher” meant
having more to say.
More notes.
More quotes.
More points to cover so no one missed anything important.

But then I’d sit in Relief Society…
or prepping a lesson late at night…
staring at pages and pages of Conference notes, thinking—

How am I supposed to turn all of this into something that actually lands?

Because the truth is…
when there’s too much, people don’t walk away with more.
They walk away remembering less.

That was the shift for me.

The lessons that stayed with me weren’t the longest ones.

Something I could actually hold onto.
