Boomitra

Boomitra Boomitra is the leading soil carbon project developer powered by AI and remote sensing technology Visit boomitra.com today!

Boomitra’s technology enables the monitoring, reporting, and verification of carbon content, nutrients, and moisture levels in the soil. Our tech is third-party validated for carbon markets, measuring at a 10m resolution without the need for physical soil sampling or lab tests. This enables cost-efficient and scalable soil sampling for farms of all sizes. Our farmer-first partnership model ensures

carbon markets and climate finance drive returns for farmers, ranchers, and landowners. Through our network of global partners, we help farmers and ranchers adopt agricultural practices to increase carbon sequestration. Boomitra then quantifies the additional carbon captured and works with international standards bodies to generate Verified Emission Removals (VERs), commonly referred to as carbon credits. Boomitra sells the carbon credits to corporations and governments worldwide, enabling them to meet their sustainability goals. The majority of the proceeds from each carbon credit sold is given directly to the farmers, allowing them to re-invest in themselves and their communities. With over 5M+ acres currently under management, Boomitra is working with farmers to accelerate carbon removal on a gigaton-scale, while helping them grow more with less. Boomitra means “Friend of the Earth” in Sanskrit, and that is who we are!

This Earth Day, ranching families in Boomitra's Northern Mexico Grassland Restoration Project are getting paid for restoring the earth. 🌱

For years, these families have been restoring native grasslands across 4 million acres of the Chihuahuan and Sonoran desert. Now, that stewardship is generating direct financial returns — under a model where ranchers and local partners receive at least 75% of gross carbon revenue.

As Ángel G., one of the participating ranchers, put it:

“It is deeply rewarding to receive payment for my contribution to mitigating climate change. By doing what I love, I can help improve our shared home, even in a small way. It is a valuable, additional incentive that allows me to keep improving my work hand in hand with natural processes.”

Thank you to every ranching family whose daily stewardship is helping build soil carbon, and to our buyers for backing producer-led carbon removal.

HISTORIC MILESTONE: Boomitra achieves Verra approval for our Northern Mexico Grassland Restoration Project, issuing a record 3.03 million soil carbon removal credits.

This is the largest soil carbon project globally and the first in North America to issue credits under VM0042, the most scientifically rigorous soil carbon methodology available.

Across 4 million acres of Chihuahuan and Sonoran desert grasslands, the project delivers carbon removal at scale and is undergoing Climate, Community & Biodiversity (CCB) certification to further validate its environmental and social benefits.

What this means:
✓ 100% removal credits meeting the highest integrity standards with significant community and biodiversity co-benefits
✓ 158 ranching families and our partners receive at least 75% of carbon credit revenue, improving their livelihoods
✓ Reversing desertification while restoring critical wildlife habitat in fragile desert ecosystems

Verra CEO Mandy Rambharos said: “Projects like this demonstrate how implementing targeted farming practices can deliver measurable climate benefits at scale. Verra’s role is to ensure these outcomes are grounded in rigorous science, conservative accounting, and independent verification, so the land, communities, and the climate all benefit.”

On , Ravi’s words say it best: “We leave behind only land, so we have to leave healthy soil for future generations.”

On 4 acres in Basavani Kupalli, Karnataka, Ravi is regenerating the land he hopes to pass on to his children and grandchildren. Through Boomitra’s URVARA project, he’s shifted from chemical inputs to organic manure, reduced tillage, residue mulching, and diverse cropping.

The results speak for themselves: between 2021 and 2024, Ravi stored an additional 2.38 tonnes of CO₂e in his soil, his yields have risen by 8–10%, and by cutting out chemical inputs entirely, he now saves at least 15,000 INR (about USD 167) each year.

This World Soil Day, we’re grateful to all the stewards of the land who are building living, carbon-rich, resilient soils. Behind every Boomitra carbon credit is a farmer or rancher making different decisions, season after season. Ravi is one of them.

🌾 Scaling climate and biodiversity impact in Argentina’s grasslands

We’re proud to share that Boomitra, Aves Argentinas, and BirdLife International—with support from Rio Tinto—are expanding regenerative land management and conservation across Argentina’s threatened temperate grasslands.

Together, we’re bringing the Alianza del Pastizal program to more ranchers and landscapes, advancing scientific research, and demonstrating how soil carbon finance can unlock large-scale nature protection and improved rural livelihoods.

This collaboration shows what’s possible when technology, conservation science, and community-driven stewardship align—restoring ecosystems, supporting ranchers, and delivering high-integrity carbon removals at scale.

Proud to share a meaningful milestone in producer-led climate action. Deloitte North & South Europe has purchased 18,000+ Boomitra soil carbon removal credits from our Northern Mexico Grassland Restoration Project—channeling climate finance to ranchers restoring degraded grasslands across the Chihuahuan and Sonoran deserts.

This collaboration, initiated by The Earthshot Prize, is supporting 158 ranchers to scale improved grassland management practices that reverse desertification, rebuild soil carbon, and enhance biodiversity. The project is verified under Verra’s VM0042 methodology, and the majority of carbon revenue flows back to ranchers and their communities.

Deloitte NSE—Earthshot’s Implementation Partner—conducted independent, on-the-ground diligence of the project, and Climate Impact Partners | B Corp™ completed additional due diligence. The result: high-quality, measurable removals that advance Deloitte’s net zero by 2040 while delivering tangible benefits for people and nature.

🌏🚨 Big news: The Government of Singapore will purchase 625,000 Boomitra soil carbon credits from our Grassland Restoration Project in Paraguay—supporting its NDCs under the Paris Agreement.

Selected through a competitive global RFP, Boomitra is one of only four projects chosen worldwide—and the only soil carbon project.

Why it matters:
✅ Sovereign-grade validation of regenerative agriculture under Article 6
✅ Direct revenue to ranchers adopting rotational grazing and restoring grasslands
✅ Co-benefits for water, biodiversity, and resilience
✅ Governments are accelerating high-integrity carbon removal

This is the future of carbon markets: credible, equitable, and compliance-driven.

At Boomitra, we’re honored to partner with the Government of Singapore and our producers to shape the next generation of trustworthy, equitable climate action.

Across India, years of intensive tillage, heavy agrochemicals, poor water management, and residue burning have taken a toll on the soil—hurting yields and leaving farmers more vulnerable to climate change.

Boomitra's URVARA carbon farming project is changing that story. Together with local partners, we're supporting smallholder farmers with training, tools, and climate finance so they can rebuild soil health, boost productivity, and capture carbon for the planet.
