CONCORD, CA: A garage fire grew out of control last Wednesday evening, flames extending out of the garage and catching two vehicles on fire before fire crews were able to knock the flames down. This incident was dispatched at 8:25pm, with UGC sending out a detailed lead including the address, on-scene details, owner contact information, and property information at 8:41pm.

A garage fire in Concord spread to two vehicles Wednesday night. Crews responding to the Richard Avenue fire were able to put it out quickly, the cause is still under investigation.

SACRAMENTO, CA: An arsonist targeted a Baptist church in Sacramento early this morning, leading to the tenth structural incident in the city since the start of last weekend - and the week isn't over yet. This incident was dispatched at 12:27am, with FD arriving on scene at 12:39am and UGC sending out a detailed lead advising of ARSON concerns at 12:52am.

Happy Holidays from our UGC Staff! Yesterday was a busy day at the office, with two second alarm fires and about a dozen other structure fires, among quite a few smaller incidents, striking between midnight and midnight. During the festivities closing out December, remember to practice fire safety every step of the way.

MIDVALE, UT: Heavy fire conditions greeted firefighters in Salt Lake County in the early hours of the morning last week, with a heavily involved residence billowing flames from all four sides. Crews worked for hours into the night to extinguish this total loss, with the end result being a hollowed-out frame of what used to be a structure. This incident was dispatched at 1:40am local time, with UGC sending out a lead at 1:50am.

UNION CITY, CA: A kitchen fire can turn out to be anything from a small fire from a burner that touches nothing around it and is easily extinguished and scaled up to a full house fire. Even when the fire doesn't extend to the attic or to other rooms of the house, the damages can be extensive. This incident pictured in Union City was reported as a "small" kitchen fire, but how much damage do you see?

Happy Thanksgiving! We here at UGC would like to wish you all a happy holiday, but also to give a reminder: never deep-fry a frozen turkey, or disaster can strike. Every year, there's a spike in cooking errors resulting in smoke or fire damage around the later months of the year when people are home cooking meals for their families. Restoration companies are left to fix up the aftermath of a turkey dinner gone wrong, but sometimes only if they know where to look.

WINDCREST, TX: How much damage can a shed fire cause? Quite a bit, once it hits a house and everything attached. Five people were injured when a blaze broke out just past three in the morning, the shed fire quickly spiraling out of control and beginning to extend to the house not long after crews arrived on scene. All occupants are recovering now, but the house is a total loss in need of extensive reconstruction to be habitable once again.

Structure collisions: How much damage can they cause? In just the last day and a half, UGC has dealt with several collisions that caused anywhere from moderate to major damages as the result of a vehicle hitting a structure, requiring repairs starting in the thousands of dollars. These incidents had an average response time from start to lead of 17 minutes for UGC.

Another devastating year for California during wildfire season. In our neck of the woods, a wildfire in Sonoma County ignited two weeks ago during rolling blackouts from PG&E and dangerously high wind conditions. The fire spread quickly, and has grown to over 80,000 acres, consuming 374 structures and damaging 60 others (per Cal Fire, as of Tuesday).

UGC has recently expanded to Florida as of mid-October, and, in the last week alone, 48 leads have been sent out for losses taking place in these new counties! UGC covers every type of structural damage the fire department might respond to, from smoke damages to floods to collisions to total losses due to a raging multi-alarm fire. Last night, a house fire broke out in Modesto, CA. Dispatch advised that callers were reporting an outside fire advancing towards the home, and, when crews arrived on scene, they were greeted with a well-involved garage fire. The fire department took quick action to knock down the fire, and no injuries have been reported. This incident was dispatched at 7:32pm, with UGC sending out a lead at 7:50pm.
