Scratch is a visual programming language developed by MIT where you learn coding by connecting blocks together to form your program. If you've never done Scratch before, this is a great place to start. If you know some Scratch, this will be a good refresher on logic, variables, lists, clones, graphic effects, sound and more! You will even learn about music and notes. All you need is a computer or Chromebook and an Internet connection to participate. Happy new year!

In celebration of Computer Science Education Week, WhizKidz will be hosting an Hour of Code online on 12/13/20 at 4:30pm-6:00pm to encourage kids to learn coding. Venture into the 3D world of programming! In this free online computer lesson, we will introduce you to 3D concepts and how to simulate a 3D environment.

You will see how easy it is to create an animated spinning cube that you can control. Use your own texture and apply the material of your choice to the faces of the cube! We will program in JavaScript and use our unique online coding platform called CodePad at https://codepad.site. Beginners are welcomed. However, knowledge of a programming language will be helpful to be able to follow along. All you need is a computer or Chromebook to participate.

This is the most prestigious high school programming competition in the world. We will be using Java as our programming language. This is an online event only.
