Parents, this is one social-media update worth understanding.
Meta has agreed to introduce new safeguards for U.S. teen accounts on Facebook and Instagram:
• A combined two-hour daily default limit
• Access blocked between midnight and 6 A.M.
• Push notifications muted during school hours, from 8 A.M. to 3 P.M.
• Likes and reactions hidden from teens by default
• Stronger age-checking measures
One important clarification: this does not shut off your child’s entire phone or internet. The overnight restriction applies to Facebook and Instagram.
These protections are being introduced in phases, so they may not appear on every teen account immediately. Parents should continue using device-level controls such as Apple Screen Time or Google Family Link.
