Did you consider behavioral pricing tactics (or better known as pricing psychology) when you priced your product? More than what the price should be, how you price your products visually is also important.

For SaaS companies, these tactics can serve as tools to influence customer purchases and boost conversions. There’s a multitude of pricing psychology tactics you can test, and we shared some in our blog post: https://www.corrily.com/blog/pricing-psychology

Which ones have you tried?

Pricing is more than just what the price should be. How you price products is also crucial.

Have you heard of the Big Mac Index? It’s a guide developed by The Economist that states how a currency is over or undervalued by comparing a Big Mac's cost in the US to other countries. It’s an informal measure of how far a dollar can go in each country that’s based on the theory of purchasing power parity (PPP). One quick way to increase your revenue is by using PPP to adjust your prices to every single country in the world.

There are JavaScript packages and PPP figures available online, which can let you stitch together your own index on what to price (or offer as discount coupons) for each country. While this is a low-cost method, it is definitely a cumbersome and time-consuming process, and one that we can automatically do for you.

Read more about PPP from our interview with Scrimba here: https://www.corrily.com/blog/scrimba-interview

We sat down with Per Harald Borgen, CEO of Scrimba AS, to talk about his experience with purchase power parity, why he thinks all companies should do it, and how he obtained 50% revenue growth from price optimization.

A recent survey from SaaStr showed that SaaS prices will most likely increase in 2023. It’s not surprising, especially given the inflationary environment we’re in.

The question is, do you know how to price your products?

While we believe that pricing is your most powerful lever to accelerate (or even sustain) growth, it’s not always easy to get right.

Here are 5 pricing insights that companies need to know before doing any price changes: https://www.corrily.com/blog/price-your-plg-product

A guest post by Kyle Poyar, OpenView Partner, in collaboration with Abel Riboulot of Corrily sharing five pricing insights that every PLG company needs to know—all supported by never-before-seen experimental data.

Someone living in Norway with a higher purchasing power may be willing to pay more than someone in India with a lower purchasing power. Similarly, someone in Denver with a lower average monthly salary would have a different willingness to pay than someone in San Francisco with a higher average monthly salary. Subscription companies charging them the same amount are potentially leaving money on the table.

Taking the time to localize your prices to consider different purchasing powers as well as accommodating local willingness to pay proves more than worthwhile (our clients have achieved an average conversion rate increase of 45%), as the right pricing helps maximize key metrics such as conversions and revenue.

Learn more about it in our blog post: https://www.corrily.com/blog/price-localization

Price localization isn't simply converting the price into a different currency. Understand what true localization is and why it is a key to maximizing conversions and revenue.

Let’s talk about value-based pricing and understanding willingness to pay.

In a recent session from YC Startup School on business models and startup pricing insights, they discussed the need to have a business model that can generate consistent recurring revenue. Why? Because then:

• you have highly predictable revenue
• you have higher customer lifetime values (LTVs) as they’re not one-off transactions
• you lower your customer acquisition costs (CACs) because you don’t have to keep reacquiring customers

The caveat is that you also need to have strong retention, which means your customers need to receive value from your product continuously or they’ll churn.

When you price based on value (i.e. your customers’ perceived value of your product) and your customers’ willingness to pay (i.e. the maximum amount of money they’re willing and able to pay), you can potentially capture the entire revenue under the demand curve.

If you’re interested, we talk more about willingness to pay here: https://www.corrily.com/blog/willingness-to-pay

You may be excluding customers and reducing your revenue by not understanding this.

In the world of subscriptions, customers typically pay a fixed amount in regular intervals after having made a purchase decision on a pricing page from a set of available plans, usually differentiated by feature (think /basic/ vs /pro/) or time commitment (/monthly/ vs /annual/). From the point of view of the company selling the subscriptions, each new subscriber constitutes a new and hopefully /long/, sequence of future positive cash flows.

With a dollar in the future not being the same as a dollar today, the $20/month you charge customers will be worth less and less in real terms over time. While rising inflation is a legitimate concern for SaaS companies, its effects can be mitigated by planning ahead and adapting prices the right way.
