Women are increasingly given a greater place and participation in the aquaculture industry. But we are not yet where we should be in terms of gender equality! Aquabyte supports "Endring i havet" and the conference's initiators Kathleen Offman Mathisen, Monica R. Langeland and Mariann Frantsen. At this year's conference, Aquabyte was represented by Operations Manager Beate Alsaker and Senior Sales Manager Kamilla Svindseth.

You may already know that Norway leads the world in best practices for fish farming. But did you know that Aquabyte's platform is so accurate that it now replaces the need for manual counting?

The Norwegian Food Safety Authority cancels the requirement for manual counting for the breeders
- Manual lice counting is now history for our customers

- Breeders who have a dispensation to use Aquabyte's LICE product no longer need to carry out manual lice counts, says Head of Product, Trude Jansen Hagland at Aquabyte.

- This is a strong signal [from the Norwegian Food Safety Authority], and means that lice data from Aquabyte's LICE product is so accurate that it now completely replaces manual counting.

A victory for fish welfare

- In recent months, we have been working with the Norwegian Food Safety Authority regarding the requirement for manual counting of lice. In July, the Norwegian Food Safety Authority said that for new dispensations this condition will be waived. Therefore, today’s feedback from the Norwegian Food Safety Authority, that the waiver of this condition also applies to previously granted dispensations, is a milestone for the industry. They therefore completely cancel these requirements for breeders who have a dispensation to use automatic counting methods.

This is an important signal about the value of new technology and methodology. Overnight, everyday life for the breeders becomes easier, observes Trude Jansen Hagland.
