60% of people have thought of a startup or business idea, but 92% don’t go forward with it.
This is due to a few reasons, like:
1) Not having all the skill sets
2) Not having enough time
3) Not knowing how to get started
But most, if not all, of this is at least partially if not fully solved by finding the right cofounder or person to explore that idea with.
And it’s something that I went through myself. See, for more than 2 years, I simply thought of an idea, but I didn’t really do too much about it until I found Carin.
We met at a case study competition in Ohio back in 2018. She was then representing The Wharton School, and I was one of the 3 judges. We probably spoke for about 30 seconds, but that was it.
It was only years later that I wrote about a problem space I was passionate about on LinkedIn. We reconnected.
We then started chatting for 2-3 hours every Sunday night, trying to delve deeper into the problem, discussing startup books, and basically just gradually immersing ourselves in the startup space (she was at Facebook by this point, while I was still at the World Bank).
After a few months of doing this, we decided to become cofounders, applied to an accelerator, and raised a small round before leaving our jobs and building full-time.
So we know first-hand that two strangers passionate about the same problem space can build and create together. And that you’re 10X more likely to do something about your idea when you have a partner.
That’s exactly why we’re building CoffeeSpace. We want to make it such that the start of your entrepreneurial journey might just be a swipe away.
So if you’re looking for a cofounder or early team member, or maybe you're like us, i.e. at a full-time job and just have that itch to explore, check out what we’re building through the 📌 links in the comments.
Thanks for reading our story :) I'd love to hear about your experiences in looking for or finding your cofounder too!
P.S. Fun fact: from the 3 judges at the Ohio event, I met my cofounder, while another judge met his future spouse at the same event :D
P.S.S. Below is a picture of the two of us deep in building mode as captured by Fauzan Reza Maulana
