π In Memoriam: Remembering Bill Rose ποΈ
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bill Rose, a true pioneer in the modernization of technical support services. A career spanning decades, Bill's impact on the industry has been profound, leaving an indelible mark on how millions of businesses and consumers receive assistance.
Bill Rose led technical support departments at esteemed companies like IBM, Hitachi, and Candle. The latter part of his career focused on transforming technical support into a respected and professional field. His efforts empowered hundreds of thousands of individuals worldwide to take pride in their roles within this crucial industry.
As a sought-after consultant, Bill extended his expertise to tech companies aiming to elevate their customer support organizations. In the 1990s, he founded the Software Support Professionals Association (SSPA) to document industry best practices and provide a community for technical support professionals. SSPA conferences brought together managers and executives, fostering collaboration and shared knowledge.
In the late 2000s, the SSPA merged with other industry associations to create TSIA, now one of the largest associations in the tech industry. Bill's legacy lives on through TSIA, where support services remain a fundamental pillar of its success.
For all of us at TSIA and the vast community of technical support professionals touched by Bill's intelligence and expertise, we collectively mourn his passing. Today, we pay tribute to a remarkable life dedicated to shaping the landscape of technical support. May his contributions continue to inspire and guide us. πΉ
