Are you at the ECOS Fall Meeting this week?

As discussions around water conservation, infrastructure resilience, and AI grow, states play a key role in supporting the water utilities and communities addressing these challenges.

Our satellite-based intelligence provides a network-wide view of water loss, helping prioritize investigations and giving state leaders greater insight into water infrastructure challenges across their jurisdictions.

ASTERRA helps identify hidden water loss and supports a proactive approach to water management, helping crews of all sizes address issues before they escalate.

We look forward to connecting with state environmental leaders and discussing how Earth observation and data-driven insights can support water conservation and infrastructure management.

Every inspection is valuable. The question is where to start.

That's the challenge facing dam operators and infrastructure managers responsible for monitoring thousands of miles of earthen dams, levees, canals, and reservoirs. Hidden seepage and excess subsurface moisture can develop long before visible signs appear, making it difficult to know where field teams should focus first.

If you're attending the Dam Safety Conference, visit us at booth 618 to learn how ASTERRA EarthWorks uses satellite-based technology to detect subsurface soil moisture anomalies that may indicate seepage, erosion, or slope instability. By providing an asset-wide view, Earthworks helps owners prioritize inspections, support proactive maintenance, and make more informed decisions to strengthen infrastructure resilience.

Seepage-related issues comprise about one half of all documented failures in embankment dams.

Subtle changes below the surface can develop months or even years before visible signs appear. By the time seepage, erosion, or slope instability reaches the surface, maintenance options may be limited, and costs significantly higher.

As infrastructure owners look to improve resilience, monitoring hidden subsurface conditions is becoming an increasingly important part of proactive asset management. Earth observation provides a network-wide perspective that helps teams identify potential areas of concern, prioritize inspections, and make more informed maintenance decisions.

Protecting critical infrastructure starts with understanding what's happening beneath the surface.

Check us out on Water Online!

We had the opportunity to discuss the impact of the groundbreaking LeakTracer program alongside the New Mexico Environment Department.

LeakTracer is the first statewide grant-funded program of its kind to use AI and satellite technology to help water utilities identify hidden water loss, strengthen long-term water resilience, and make the most of limited resources. By combining public leadership with innovative technology, the program is demonstrating how data-driven decision-making can help utilities proactively address non-revenue water across distribution networks.

Eric Trerotola and Andrew Hautzinger shared this story at to highlight what’s possible when state agencies and technology providers work together toward a common goal. We hope LeakTracer serves as a model for other states and communities looking for innovative, cost-effective approaches to water loss management.

Thank you to Water Online for featuring this important conversation!
