A recent article from The CU Daily highlights how three credit unions are taking innovative approaches to addressing housing challenges in their communities.
Each took a different approach, but all three started in the same place: Understanding the needs of the people they serve.
Soosh Amin, Chief Revenue Officer at Centergy Solutions, shared his perspective:
“What's interesting about these three credit unions is that they didn't start with a product. They started by identifying the barriers keeping people from finding stable housing and built solutions around those needs.
I think there's an important lesson here for financial institutions. We spend a lot of time thinking about the mortgage process, but the consumer's journey begins long before a loan application.
People are searching for homes, comparing neighborhoods, and figuring out what they can afford. If we're not part of that experience, we're missing an opportunity to build relationships and provide value when consumers need it most.
That's where I see the opportunity with Home Link. It's about bringing the home search and financing experience together, giving financial institutions a way to engage consumers earlier and remain part of the conversation throughout their home buying journey.”
It's an important reminder that meaningful lending relationships begin with understanding consumer needs, not simply waiting for a loan application.
