Why most people will never see the websites I design on my 27" Mac:
because nearly two-thirds of Google and AI-powered searches happen from a 5" phone screen.

If you're a local business, those odds are even higher.

So what's everyone doing on their phones all day?

Perhaps playing Wordle while waiting to board a flight, making dinner reservations on the fly, quietly checking the Padres score form their work cubicle. Buying something they didn't know they HAD to have, or refreshing their social media post for the third time in an hour. 😆

The average person goes online from their phone 58 separate times a day.

That's why I never treat the phone version of a website like it's just a smaller desktop.

I treat it like it's a golden scroll stopper.

Every image, every headline, every button, every bit of spacing, and every call to action. Sometimes what looks incredible on a 27-incher simply doesn't work on a phone. It's just design reality. Different devices demand different experiences.

I never imagined having this much fun making a living.

Underground utility construction isn't exactly one of the more glamorous industries on the planet. But this hashtag + hashtag refresh was one of the most fulfilling projects I've ever worked on.

Out in the field.
Boots on the ground.
And I loved every sweaty minute of it.

A.M. Ortega Construction has been Southern California's leading underground utility contractor since 1974, quietly keeping the region's infrastructure running. The brand needed to reflect that legacy while attracting the caliber of clients and talent their reputation had earned.

The goal was clear: look like the premium operation they already were.

So we went all in.

Full brand immersion, web design, copywriting, programming, photography, and by request, drone footage of their highly prized vacuum trucks. Getting up close to the sheer scale of what they build underground every day, was incentive to bring everything we had.

We know full well that a stunning website is only as good as what it produces, so we built every page with lead generation baked in... clear calls to action, intuitive navigation, and content structured to convert.

The results speak for themselves: +2,400 leads in 12 months and +600 visitors a month consistently flowing through a site that works around the clock, anchored by a visual system that feels as engineered as the infrastructure Ortega installs.
