đź’ŁIIST Break Out Session Announcementđź’Ł
Jeff Jennings, founder of Improvised Electronics, will be leading a hands-on breakout session on IED electronics during the upcoming IABTI IST in June.
Jeff Jennings founded Improvised Electronics in 2009 out of his garage. He'd just finished nearly a decade in the U.S. Navy as an Electronics Technician — first as a Communications ET aboard USS Iwo Jima (LHD-7), where he maintained HF, UHF, VHF radio systems, data systems, and SATCOMM in support of OEF, OIF, and JTF Liberia, and supported relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
He spent his last four years at NAVSCOLEOD at Eglin AFB, where he served as the electronics subject-matter expert, engineering technician, and instructor for the Advanced IED Defeat Course. He's not a bomb tech. He taught bomb techs electronics. That hands-on experience in the electronics shop and training center of the Advanced IED School is where he identified the gaps in training equipment and courseware that the bomb tech community was living with — and it's the foundation on which everything at Improvised Electronics is built.
He founded the company to bring the functionality of the training aids he was building at AIEDD to the broader market — purpose-built, engineered for the real-world technical demands that military and law enforcement bomb technicians face in the field. The legacy products were unreliable and expensive. He fixed that with solid engineering and developed rigorous courseware to go with it.
Today, Improvised Electronics supports clients across the DoD, federal agencies, and state and local bomb squads. Jeff still travels to EOD units and bomb squad shops around the world to deliver hands-on technical training, bringing specialized instruction directly to the teams that need it. Along with his team, he authored The Ultimate EOD Electronics Reference Guide, a comprehensive technical reference tailored to the bomb tech community. He also created and manages the Circuit Library, an online learning platform with over 2,500 active users, built exclusively for EOD and public-safety bomb tech professionals.
Jeff is an active member of the International Association of Bomb Technicians and Investigators (IABTI), where he presents at conferences and contributes to training development.
This is exclusive and highly sought after training that you can't get anywhere else. Mr. Jennings's breakout session is just one of many training sessions that you can sign up for at the IIST.
