Here's something a lot of people don't know about Gloria Steinem: for over 20 years, she lived out of cardboard boxes in her own New York apartment. Not because she had to, but because she'd grown up believing the only reason to make a home was for a husband and children.

She didn't fully unpack until she was in her 50s.

But that same apartment? She spent decades turning it into something bigger than herself. It became a place for women to gather, organize, and find refuge when they needed it. The home she once couldn't claim for herself, she built into a legacy for everyone else.

That's the thing about legacy. It's rarely just about what you leave behind. It's about the moment you decide your life--and your home--are worth building on purpose.

September is National Preparedness Month. This year's theme: Americans Stand Ready.

Most preparedness checklists are physical. Water, batteries, a go-bag, copies of your ID in a waterproof pouch. All worth doing.

But the hardest part of most emergencies starts after the first 72 hours the go-bag covers. Someone has to make medical decisions, access accounts, keep a household running. Paper decides who can.

Our 2026 Estate Planning Report (5,000 U.S. adults) found the gap: 19% of Americans have a medical power of attorney or advance directive. 11% have a financial power of attorney. 10% have a HIPAA authorization. 56% have none of the core documents at all.

An emergency plan that stops at supplies leaves the biggest questions unanswered.

This month, add one item to the kit: the documents. Decide who speaks for you if you can't, put it in writing, and tell them where to find it.

What started as one woman's love letter to her Appalachian roots has become one of the most celebrated theme parks in the country, proof that a little hometown dream can grow into something truly larger than life. 💛

42% of Gen Z now works with a financial advisor—up from 28% just one year ago.

Our CEO Cody Barbo unpacks why in his latest byline for Wealth Management 's 2026 Midyear Outlook Report.

The short version: financial anxiety is at a high, and more Americans than ever are channeling it into estate planning, with 61% saying advisors should offer it as part of their services.

The advisors who lean in now aren't just doing right by clients. Per a separate T&W study, most advisors who added digital estate planning saw higher retention (56%) and satisfaction (59%).
