I'll never forget Tony Robbins' comment during UPW live in November of last year: "You can't be grateful and upset at the same time".
Gratitude has become one of the pillars of my wellbeing.
I have built a habit of experiencing and expressing at least a dozen of times, every day.
I am grateful for amazing clients like Andy Vannorstrand who always puts his work first and leads an amazing team... Nick Devlin who embodies love and adventure in everything he does... and Chad Cook who has consistently demonstrated professionalism since I first met him over a decade ago; just to name a couple.
I am grateful for those on my team who stuck around during the good times and the challenging ones alike, such as Billy Purdy who never fails to save the day with outstanding technical prowess... Jocelyn Toll who bridges the gap between our client's needs and the services we provide with grace and elegance and Jerome Jarapa who works so hard and creatively to help in almost every aspect of our business; just to name a few.
I am even grateful for the most challenging moments and personalities that ultimately have helped us all in seeing our blind spots and forced us to raise the bar, time after time. I'll write another post on my experiences with transmuting challenge into growth some other day.
Today, particularly, I want to express gratitude for a man who embodied at a time when I experienced so much chaos.
The man who made 7 years of my life stable in the midst of a tumultuous childhood.
The man who taught me the value of being consistently reliable, no matter what.
The man who bought me this fountain pen, that I still use to journal every day... just one of an of gifts.
The man who played the role of my father and provided the home in which I lived as a teenager, in France.
Denis Po**ck, thank you for all that you have provided and shared with me.
I credit so much of my current success, resilience and positive outlook to Denis, who even funded my college education and sponsored my long summer vacations, before I had to start adulting.
Why miss out on the opportunities we have to honor those figures in our lives who play such significantly positives roles and serve as our mentors?
Let's not make the same mistakes so many have made, such as 50 Cent who failed to honor his mentor Dre when success inflated his ego.
Humility and gratitude are the fuel for work well done, and that is what the world needs, today and forever.
Who are some people you are grateful for in your life?
