We love happy clients!

Earlier this week we received a call from one of our clients La Biscotteria. They were having an issue receiving email on one of their workstations. After walking the client through a couple steps it was clear the issue was not with our service, but the email client itself.

At this point we could of easily informed the client of this and that they would need to find a local IT company to help them correct the issue. Instead we decided to help by remoting into the workstation so that we could attempt to correct the problem. The solution was to run a repair utility on a Outlook database file that had become corrupt.

Most other hosting companies would not have gone the extra mile to help a client in need and Augustine knew this! Today a package from La Biscotteria showed up full of treats! This is not the first time they've sent us some of their delicious Biscotti!

This is why it's so important to monitor your hardware and keep replacement components on hand! This raid controller had a tab break causing the heatsink to lift and overheat. Our monitoring system immediately notified our team of an overtemperature event and we were able to replace the controller and get the sever back up and running with little down time!

DNS spoofing is when you force your operating system into thinking a domain is pointing to an IP address different from what the rest of the internet see's. This can be useful when you move a site from one server to another and want to test the site before pointing the domain to the new server.

When moving a site between servers it's always a good idea to test the site before repointing the domain. This wiki page show's how you can easily trick your workstation into thinking your website points to the new server!

Want to see how long your MySQL or Maria DB server has been up and running?

In the example below we are connecting to the SQL server as the user root and telling the client utility to prompt us for the password. If your my.cnf already contains a user and password you can remove the -u and -p options as they are not needed.
