We all got opinions, but one thing you can’t avoid is the importance of labor in America . We all work to provide for our families against a deck that has been stacked against us for decades. Stagnated wages in tandem with the high and rising cost of living has most people living pay check to pay check, while the rich get richer. You can get a loan for a burrito, and die penniless due to medical debt. The value of human life and our natural environment are the two things we at Deuxsouth don’t take lightly. Go vote your conscience, but remember to also vote your class. And most importantly vote for local businesses with your money, believe me the chain restaurants will be fine without you

When Burntout Bagels came to us a few months back, we were thinking that leaving a corporate job to sell bagels out of a Japanese Micro Truck, sounded crazy enough to work. He is now slingin bagels in Universal City throughout the week. Don’t sleep on these bagels, and give him a follow to catch his next popup

Recent Photoshoot for long time client and friend Ricardo Turrbiates, owner of Mint Development.

The first time I met Ricardo (approx 2017), we were the two youngest guys in the room, now we are seasoned vets. His work in land usage, construction oversight, design and planning punch above their weight for an owner operator in the real estate development industry.

It’s crazy to see how all the people I knew in 2016 when I moved here are really starting to have a hand in the direction of our city.

Design has been a journey. Ideas that started on napkins, sometimes end up as neons. Truthfully I rallied to have Merci Jones rely on using MJ, but as months went on this scratchy type illustration seemed to rise to the top. Ironically when they took it to the sign shop they didn’t know how to make it work. So when the “we need to figure this out” email landed in my inbox I had a morning to make it happen.

I’ve been watching this corner ever since 2015, and to see it reach its potential is kinda surreal. San Antonio needed a neighborhood bar, on this corner. Especially one bookended by NOLA 🅿️umpers: An Adult Burger Store and Hot Joy Hot Joy

Hats off to Roadmap Brewing Co. on 8 years of serving up good times on North Alamo. It’s been awesome being apart of the journey.

This city is full of chefs, baristas and industry types making SA what it is. But Mornin’ Sunshine and SHINE are truly holding down the Tobin Hill brunch scene, and providing the strip with some AM hangover remedies. I had the pleasure of snapping some photos this week of Olma and Twon doing what they do best. Their passion for their food and coffee is evident in the way their regulars keep coming back for more. Skip the Pearl this weekend and go check out the real thing.
