If I had waited 5 minutes longer, this shot wouldn’t have happened.

I did a full day of shooting and when I got her in front of the camera and took this shot something happened to my light.

The flash tube went out! I was able to get this shot. And then the light that is lighting her back and hair gave out.

If I had waited 5 more minutes it wouldn’t have worked! Crazy how things happen but work out for me at the same time lol.

Still got a killer headshot for her LinkedIn. I’m excited to see how many more clicks on her profile she gets after!

I’m excited to start sharing more of the people, stories, and moments I get to photograph.

It was so awesome having the amazing Camilla Rambaldi in my humble little shed studio.

I’ll never forget the first time we shot together, it was so funny hearing her reporter/anchor voice in person instead of on TV. It honestly felt like hearing someone with an accent from another country. 😂

I’m so happy and proud to see how far she’s come. Seeing her now working in LA is incredibly cool, and so well deserved!

Don’t stop being awesome!

Here’s now I know headshots are so important nowadays.

When I posted my headshot on facebook, it’s my most liked post.

I can post some awesome shots, stories or whatever… it still doesn’t beat when I update my Facebook with a new headshot!

Get yourself a good headshot. It gets the most likes and the most hired. It always beats a good iPhone selfie.

This was humbling and exciting at the same time.

I went from shooting in a professional photography studio to a 10x10 shed in my backyard… but I loved it!

It was perfect because I had just started focusing on headshot photography back in 2021.

At first it hurt my ego to shot in a small space but it felt good to see that I can do headshot photography even in small spaces.

Here’s my set up, just one light, vflats, and a reflector.

“Get ready with me” usually means makeup and outfits.

Mine means light stands, a stubborn backdrop roll, and telling people to push their chins forward for the fifth time 🤣

Same energy, different kit.

This Saturday, I’m teaching a Phone Photography Workshop at the City of Eagle Pass Art & Culture Center.

We’re getting into the settings you’ve been ignoring: focus lock, exposure, grid lines, portrait mode, all the stuff that turns “just a phone pic” into something you’d actually post.

No fancy gear needed. Just the phone already in your pocket.

I've been building my EDC (Every Day Carry) set up this year and I finally got something to put it all together.

I would put everything stacked on top of each other on my nightstand and hope the cat doesn't knock it over lol.

With this I'll be able to have it all together and looking nice.

I'll post some photos I took using a temporary EDC soon and then I'll post my current EDC. I've changed it recently I almost have everything I need to complete it 😁

If you have an EDC set up I highly recommend their boxes. Not sponsored or anything I just really like it.

I've been doing studio work at the start of my photography journey.

I used to think on location shoots were difficult because you had to make sure the weather is good, it's hot, and if it's partly cloudy you have to change your settings all the time.

With studio work I set everything the way I want in the comfort of AC. I set the settings once and then just focus on the posing and mood.

Recently I find myself missing the simplicity of working with natural light and the complications that come with it.

So when this shoot came up, I wanted to see how close I could get to that natural light feel using just a touch of strobe.

graciously let me use his light. I dialed it down to just a kiss of light and worked to make it invisible.

I brought the power so low I even had to ask Bryan to back up so it's not so strong 🤣

What do you think? Does it look like it was shot with natural light or can you tell there's a strobe?

I have stood in front of rooms full of photographers and creatives more times than I ever expected to.

At a local camera shop. At SA Creatives meetups. At a conference called Creative Futures. Rooms that ranged from 5 to 15 people.

I've taught from lighting to portraiture to branding to storytelling.

Every single time I stood up there I felt the same thing. Grateful and a little lucky.

It's amazing I was able to teach what I wish someone had taught me. The things that would have made starting and making easier.

It took me years to figure out what I helped others in a couple of hours and that was a huge honor for me to help build everyone else's towers around me instead of knocking them down.

If you've ever thought about sharing what you know do it. You don't have to have everything figured out. You just have to be a few steps ahead to where you used to be.
