After 30+ years building business software, one thing hasn’t changed:

Most operational problems don’t start big.
They build over time—especially around inventory.

What starts as a small mismatch in stock or purchasing slowly turns into delays, confusion, and lost time.

That’s exactly why we built COR•REC•REC —to give businesses a clearer way to manage operations without adding complexity.

Start with what you need.
Expand as your business grows.

If you’re rethinking how your current tools are holding up, it may be time to look at a different approach.

You’re not too small. You’re early.

I hear this often from founders and operators building serious business systems:

“We’re not big enough yet for AI partnerships.”
“We need more users before this matters.”
“We should wait.”

But scale isn’t always the missing ingredient.

Conceptual readiness is.

If your platform already:

Handles real-world operations

Protects long-term business data

Respects professional workflows

Avoids locking customers into perpetual subscriptions

Then you’re not behind.

You’re early.

AI doesn’t need another layer of abstraction.
It needs structured, durable systems where intelligence can assist—not override—human judgment.

At CORGROUP, we’ve spent decades building business software that prioritizes data ownership, clarity, and longevity. That foundation matters more now than ever.

The next wave won’t be about who adopted AI first.
It will be about who built systems worthy of it.

Curious to hear from others building outside the SaaS hype cycle:
👉 Where do you see “early” being mistaken for “too small”?

📊 Year-End Accounting Tip: Review Your Unpaid Bills & Accrued Expenses
Before closing the books for the year, take a close look at expenses you’ve incurred and not yet remunerated.

Why this matters:

✔️ Many business owners forget they can deduct earned expenses, not just paid ones.
✔️ Captures costs like contractor work, utilities, professional services, and year-end invoices.
✔️ Prevents under-reporting expenses and over-paying taxes.
✔️ Creates cleaner books for your CPA or tax preparer.

What to do before December 31:
1️⃣ Run an Unpaid Bills / Open Payables report
2️⃣ Confirm services were delivered this year
3️⃣ Record accruals where appropriate
4️⃣ Match expenses to the correct period—not when cash left the bank

This simple review often uncovers deductions that would otherwise be missed and reduces last-minute tax surprises.

👉 For those using COR•REC, use the Custom Report Generator to list open payables, accruals, and expense activity by period—making year-end adjustments fast and accurate.

💡 Accounting Tip for Year-End: The One Report You Should Run Now

With the year coming to a close, one of the most overlooked tax-saving opportunities hides inside a simple report.
Your Year-to-Date Expense Summary.
Why it matters
✔️ It reveals categories that may be under-reported
✔️ Helps identify expenses you can still take before December 31
✔️ Flags vendor payments that qualify for 1099s
✔️ Highlights deductions that often get missed—especially mileage, subscriptions, small tools, and contractor labor
What to do this week:
1️⃣ Run a YTD Expense Summary
2️⃣ Compare it against bank statements for any missing write-offs
3️⃣ Note any purchases you legitimately need to make before year-end
4️⃣ Clean up vendor classifications to avoid tax-time delays
These small steps can make a surprising difference in lowering your taxable income—without scrambling in January.

👉 For those using COR•REC, use the Custom Report Generator or Audit Report to instantly pull year-to-date expense.

Accounting in 2025: Pressure is mounting

Staffing shortages. A shrinking pool of qualified professionals. Ever-changing tax laws. Add limited automation into the mix, and it’s no wonder so many accountants are feeling the weight of burnout.

At CORGROUP, we believe technology should lighten the load—not add to it. Our COR•REC platform helps firms adapt by streamlining workflows, reducing manual tasks, and giving accountants more time to focus on the work that truly requires their expertise.

✅ Automate repetitive processes
✅ Improve accuracy and compliance
✅ Free up capacity without increasing headcount

The challenges aren’t going away—but the way we approach them can.

Lessons From 30+ Years in Software Development

Like many founders, my journey started during a time of uncertainty—a major downturn in the economy. Back in the 1990s, small and midsize businesses were still hesitant to embrace integrated business management software. But I believed then, as I do now, that having connected systems is essential for profitable operations.

After decades of building software, one of the biggest shifts I’ve seen is the focus on security. It has reshaped how we design and deliver every product. But even more transformative are the lessons I've learned from the people I've worked with—and the businesses I've served.

One of the most common mistakes I’ve seen businesses make when choosing software? Overlooking the cost-benefit of employee focus, collaboration, and consistent messaging.
When employees don’t have access to a consistent flow of information:
• Efforts are duplicated.
• Messaging becomes inconsistent.
• Growth gets messy—and expensive.

And to the next generation of software entrepreneurs:
Don’t let your ability to code distract you from your purpose.Understand the subject you’re writing for—deeply. True innovation isn’t just about clever code. It’s about creating something usable, consistent, flexible, and enduring.

If I had to choose the one thing I’m most proud of, it would be the knowledge I’ve gained from the incredibly diverse and talented individuals I've had the privilege of working with. I often say, “I don’t care where a good idea comes from; I’ll gladly take credit for recognizing it.”

I’d love to hear from others—What’s the most valuable lesson you’ve learned in your career so far?
