Your brand color may be more memorable than your brand name.

Color increases brand recognition by up to 80 percent.

People remember how a brand makes them feel visually before they ever recall the name.

Tiffany blue. UPS brown. Coca-Cola red.

None of those needed a logo in that sentence.

That’s what consistent color does over time. It becomes shorthand for everything you stand for.

Pick your colors with intention. Then own them everywhere, every time.

Still in the room.

Lots of Q&A today. Lots of gold.

A few things that hit different:

Unhealed pain becomes company policy.

It’s what’s caught, not taught.

Preparation is where you build confidence.

Writing everything down. This is the work.

Most major corporate logos use blue. That’s not a coincidence.

People associate blue with trust and security, and the brands at the top of every industry know it.

Color is doing psychological work before anyone reads a single word.

The question isn’t whether color communicates. It’s whether yours is saying what you think it is.

When a business outgrows its brand, it starts losing trust before anyone says a word.

Mindful Stays is a cohosting and consulting company built around intentional hospitality for mountain homeowners. The identity had to match that level of care.

Navy and warm gold. An owl. A hand-lettered mark rooted in nature and elevated by craft. A logo system built to work everywhere from the website to business cards to signage and beyond.

This is what it looks like when a brand finally catches up to the business behind it.

There’s a couple week’s every year in Colorado where the aspens start to turn.

You can feel it coming before you see it. The air shifts. The light changes. The whole mountain starts letting go.

I’ve been trying to fight that lately. Holding on to timelines, outcomes, the version of things I thought they’d look like by now.

This trail has a different opinion.

Embrace the change. Adjust your flow. Let go.

You can plan the whole hike and still kick the dog.

That’s the thing about moving with purpose. It doesn’t mean moving perfectly. It means staying present enough to course correct when you do.

Out here in Aspen Alley with Meredith and the pups. Joey survived. Barely.

Step with purpose.

I picked up a flow rope this year.

Still learning. Still figuring out the rhythm. Still getting tangled.

Building a brand feels exactly like this.

You don’t master it before you start.

You start.
You get tangled.
You hire me.
We untangle.
We find the rhythm that fits you.

Mastery finds you in the doing.

Keep going.

This mug was cast from the Arkansas River.

Jeff Irwin takes an impression of a riverbed and turns it into ceramic art. He calls them impermascapes.

And now I drink my morning coffee out of the river that runs through my backyard.

That’s what a real brand does. It doesn’t just describe what you make. It makes you feel where it came from.

Jeff didn’t make a mug. He made a connection to a place. Well done.

That’s the work. That’s always the work.

This is how I think about every brand I work on (and even the ones I don’t). Where did it come from, and does anyone feel that?

Courage is a compass.

The thing you’re afraid to do is usually the thing you already know you need to do.

Make the call.
Send the message.
Post the video.
Have the difficult conversation.

Stop bringing hypothetical questions to the table when you haven’t gathered any real-world data yet.

Show up. Do the work. Let courage point you toward the next action.

People will always be drawn to brands that evoke an emotional reaction.

We share them because they attract like-minded people to us.

That’s not marketing theory. That’s human nature.
