I'm always shocked and excited when I see these types of emails about my SEO work even though I've done it for several clients.

Here's an interesting article on the Verification Loop which is how consumers find a local business. Search engine positioning, AI mentions, social media activity, customer reviews and business responses to them are all factors now. Search engine positioning is still important, but it's sharing the stage with other channels.

The choices to report a review to Google vary slightly by device. If you're doing it on a desktop computer, your choices are off topic, spam, conflict of interest, profanity, bullying or harassment, discrimination or hate speech, and personal information. "The people who feel the ground shifting hardest are the ones who skipped the fundamentals the first time. The naming argument is more comfortable than admitting that."

"AI search only feels like a new sport to the people who were never really training. Everyone else kept doing the work."

My SEO was never shallow because I never skipped the fundamentals.
